The sushi is made to look better than to taste. The craft of fine sushi making cannot be found here. The restaurant is conveniently located in Eau Claire Market, which would make it the perfect place to dine before seeing a movie and not having to chow down on popcorn as a meal. However sadly, the popcorn is a better choice than sad, sad sushi.
Unfortunately due to constraints we had to eat here. We haven’t liked it in the past but hoped that it had improved over time since it’s still there. On the bright side it has nice interior and the service was efficient and friendly. We were the only ones in there. .. usually a warning sign for us. The avocado roll was $5… it was probably the best roll. You can’t really screw up that roll unless you put crappy avocado. Dynamite roll $9..tiny shrimp..green dragon was the next best. We ordered combo d.. chefs choice…. never order this…. they probably need to get rid of something…. the mango salmon … was 2 slivers of old mango. The biggest complaint was squishy wet sushi rice and they were super small. $18… Atlantic red tuna sashi. .. $27 for 10 pieces. Quite expensive and yes we were still hungry after $90.
This place has gone downhill unfortunately. My friend used to own this and the quality and service was MUCH better. Today, will be my first and last visit since change of ownership. The server took forever to serve us. There were only 5-6 tables and 2 servers. We ordered assorted deluxe sashimi and there were bones in the warm sashimi. They ran out of oysters, the last batch was served to the table next to us and they told us it wasn’t fresh. Later, I heard they got it taken off the bill. The beef tataki was super chewy and I couldn’t break threw the meat. The only thing edible and fresh was the gyoza. I told the lady server that one of the stalls in the ladies washroom didn’t have toilet paper and interestingly she said she knew… And didn’t do anything about it.
They cheat on customers! I order 15 pieces of sushi and they only gave me 14. It was lucky that I figured it out right away, otherwise they would get away with that and charge me the price of 15 pieces.
Slow service!!! Great sushi though. Waitress was friendly, super short staffed. Green tea was good.i ordered the following: house white wine which was nice, got avocado rolls and yam rolls. My friend ordered the mango salmon roll and dynamite roll and enjoyed it.
This place used to be alright. However it appears that new management took over about a year ago and this place has definitely gone downhill. Classic items that were good and affordable are off the menu and now they are serving up what appeared to be frozen vegetables (the kind from a bag that you nuke in the microwave) with our entre and rolls that were not fresh. Won’t be going back here.
Decent sushi. They typically have a Groupon special, so that may be the best time for people who would like to try the restaurant to get food for cheap. Location is quiet.
