It’s been a mainstay for years, I pop in whenever I’m in Eau Claire — which unfortunately isn’t often these days. This is one of the only places in town to get exotic beans like Jamaican and Hawaiian. You pay a little more but it’s not outrageous. The owner is knowledgeable but yes, he has a thing for the French press that I just don’t understand. I usually just get my beans and ram them through my home espresso machine, which I’m sure just ticks him right off. But that’s how they do it at Granville Island — Blue Mountain Americano and it rocks. There’s a bit of a snob factor here that’s at times misplaced but his heart is good. Recommended

This hidden gem pumps out some solid espresso, tea, any type of drink you’re craving. Prices are reasonable, especially considering that it’s a local cafe, and the love that goes into the drinks is something you won’t find anywhere else. Hazelnut heaven is an absolute must, or if you’d prefer tea I’d highly recommend the kiwi green tea.
Quick efficient service. Tired of standing in line at Good Earth waiting for their glacial service. Never go there again. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The worst hot choc and chi latte I have ever had. Hot choc was choc milk from a box heated and the chi tasted like dirty dish water. Never again.
Boo.. Like the other comment, I went to the Bean Stop for the Blue Mountain (if you’ve never tried it, wow – it’s amazing). They were out, but had my second favorite, Kona, available. Done in a french press and ready in 7 minutes sounds great, doesn’t it?Worst coffee ever. And at $9.00 for two, I expected a lot more than something that tasted like a damp coffee filter (I was a poor student…. don’t judge). It was so bad, that rather than throwing it in the trash, I returned it to the counter, telling the barista that it was, in truth, undrinkable. He told me that I’m the first person to complain. Good to know. Next time I’ll vote with my dollars alone and skip your shop all together. There’s a reason Eau Claire is in its death throes. It’s because of sub-mediocre products, services and amenities (seriously – have you been in that theater lately?).If you are going to charge $4.50 for a coffee, please make it worthwhile. What you’re brewing now is so unacceptable.
How to ruin class!. This was pretty simple. I am a lover of Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. As some people know it’s one of, if not the, best coffee you can get. The only problem is that you cana’t get it in Calgary – apart from the Bean Stop. So I dropped in there after a swim on a Saturday to get a cup. 6 minutes I was told – no problem – good things come to those who wait. $4.50 isn’t massively expensive for good coffee. The coffee was plunger brewed – no prblem there – takes practice but can be done. I waited and wandered around the busy little shop. Really looks like they know their coffees. Teas all seemed to be bagged which is annoying but I wasn’t there for that. Anyway the alarm goes off for my coffee – yay! I head back to the counter and what’s this? The girl is pouring my coffee into a PAPER cup – what the hell? I forgot to look around – no proper cups. Saddened I took my coffee and sat down to let the coffee infuse (in a paper cup) to it’s proper temperature – hot to make you twitch but not take your head off. Then, the moment of truth – the drinking. Oh wow this was going to be a treat. I sipped the coffee and . . . nothing. It was tasteless, meaningless, worse than you get in a roadside cafe. It tasted like instant coffee. The only thing right was the lack of bitter after taste which is normal. But this was NOT the blue mountain I loved. From what I could taste it was a poor blend – medium roast. I would have expected at minimum a cuvee and a reserve would have been excellent – not to be. Also, the grinds were old and stored in a plastic container. All of this probably explains it.Overall, I’m sorry but it was awful. I’ll not be returning any time soon. I’ll continue my search for a coffee shop that understands top quality coffee. 3/10 mainly for the nice display.
