The prices were a bit high, but still very comparable to the University location with similar items. A Wednesday stop at Good Earth for lunch resulted in me getting their Tuscan Tunawich, which I clearly didn’t read the ingredients since I didn’t realize that it had pickles, which I’m not the biggest fan of.I got the Tunawich to go, and it tasted like a panini. The food in the sandwich complemented each other very well however. The pickles were sweet and mixed in with the tiny hint of onions with tuna and whole grain bread, it made for a very satisfying sandwich. I actually really enjoyed the pickles in the sandwich! Yay for a sandwich making me like something I usually don’t enjoy. However, at $8/per it’s pricey for sure. Pastries at $4 or so per is also a bit pricey especially considering other reviews of it.Service as a whole was friendly. The place itself is spacious and very welcoming with tons of natural lighting. It’s a decent cafe for the area. I might come back but it’s nothing to write home about. All in all, recommended.
We’ve come here a number of times. They always have a seat and great coffee. The soup is second to none. The sandwiches are average.
Excellent cafe. Coffee and lattes are hot, rich and delicious. I’m addicted to their muffins. great spot to drop in for a light lunch or breakfast.
Meh!. I’ve had lunch at the Good Earth on the UofA campus and quite like it so i was expecting good things from the south side location. We were disappointed to say the least. My breakfast sandwich was quite tasteless and my chai latte – which i had to remind them to actually make for me – seemed chai-less. I do really like their berry and white chocolate scones though….that was tasty. My partner ordered a roast beef sandwich which he couldn’t eat half of since it was bland and he didn’t enjoy it. He said it had very little filling and tasted overwhelmingly of the herbs in the bread, rather than of the sandwich filling.Very expensive too for what we had….and for the fact it wasn’t that great at all.i would go back and buy their berry / chocolate scone but i wouldn’t eat in or get coffee from there again though.
Revisit for breakfast. My friend and I ordered 2 Mocha, 1 cheddar scone and a muffin. They offer the choice of 2% milk, skim milk or soy milk for their coffee. We asked for the soy milk without cream on top. It tasted good as you can taste the mocha and the coffee is not too overwhelming. The scone I had didn’t look big but as I start eating it was very fulfilling. I almost couldn’t finish it. The scone was ok but not anything outstanding though. Our breakfast costed $14, not the cheapest in town but not the most expensive either. If you are looking for a quick cheap place to eat, this is not the cafe of your choice. Good Earth offers a quite place with nice decor and above average food (other than deli, more on this later) and drink. The price on their menu is just as about the same as Starbucks but Good Earth’s coffee tastes better than Starbucks’.Good Earth offers a good selection of pre-made sandwiches/subs. I never like pre-made sandwiches since you can never expect a good sandwich when it has been in the fridge for hours. It doesn’t matter if it was pre-made by a 5-star hotel chef or a local deli shop summer student. Hours in display, the bun is cold and soggy because of the moisture from the veggie. Save your money and get a cup of hot coffee and a healthy mix berries bran muffin for the same price.05 Jul, 2010A nice cafe in the neighbourhood. Good Earth Cafe offers muffins, scones, cookies and cakes. I tried a white chocolate chips scone and I liked it. My friend had a wild berries muffin and that was great too. Their coffee is about the same as any other coffee shop. They offer live music on Friday nights which I have yet to find time to go. I am sure I will be back for more goodies very soon.
Cinnamon buns disappointing. Dropped in this morning to pick up cinnamon buns to take back home for the family for breakfast. At just under $4.00, was expecting awesome. Very bland. My quest continues for the best cinnamon bun in Edmonton (so far High Level Diner/Sugar Bowl are in first place).
Over priced for the quality. I dropped in and decided to pick up something to eat.I ordered a cookie which was $2.10, a little over priced I felt, it was a good cookie but not anything special.I also grabbed a roast beef sandwich, which was $7.50? Very over priced. The girl asked if I wanted it heated/pressed and I said sure, this was not a good idea as all the sandwiches are made before hand and sit in a glass case, so the lettuce/tomatoes inside just get ruined in the heating process. I think it would help if they could add the vegs to the sandwich afterward.I mean at over $7 for a sandwich of that size/quality its the least they could do.It was a okay sandwich, but honestly I would rather go to quiznos as theirs would be better. Also the debit machines asks for a tip, that’s just disgusting, over priced food plus asking for a tip for putting a cookie in a bag and taking a sandwich from a glass case to a heating machine and leaving it there for several minutes then bagging it.Wow.
