First time eating at Mini Mango. I was expecting it to be a larger, sit down restaurant but it is small and take-out oriented. I ordered the five-colour vermicelli bowl. The menu price is $13.95 but was charged over $16 before tip. The portion size was pretty good. The noodles and meats were cooked well. I was not fond of the included celery, and the cuts of pepper were too large and awkward for me. Not bad overall, but I have had better vermicelli bowls before.
First impression is this place is overrated. Very tiny restaurant. The process of ordering your food is somewhat similar to MacDonald’s or Burger King. Order, pay, then sit down and wait. The small tables were not a problem at all. Kind of a fast food atmosphere. My food review is based on the Sate soup only.We had the Sate soup, as I mentioned, one chicken and one beef. Extra spicy. The soups came to the table and the first impression was the bowls were not very big. Second impression was the soup was well below the brim. (See attached picture.) Hate that. The quantity of beef and chicken were small, but the broth was very good. Very flavourful and in my opinion could compete with middle best Vietnamese restaurants, but not the top (I repeat….in my opinion). The quantity is not for big eaters. My wife ate all of hers with ease, which she never does. Myself? I could have eaten two of them.I give them a 4 for the classic Sate taste, but a 2.5 for value.
Been meaning to try this place since we moved to the area. Finally made it and was not disappointed. Staff is very friendly and food is amazing. Came in and it was empty by the time we left there were no tables left. Food came quick, hot food hot and cold food cold. Everything was great and I couldn’t finish my Pho, it was so filling. Adding mango to the salad rolls took them to a whole new level. If we had room we would have tried one of their unique desserts. Will have to go back in the near future.
5 meat combo. Need I say more. This place is great….wide selection of food choices, pad Thai is also a great choice. They also do large party trays for big gatherings. When in the area it’s always a place to go for authentic v-not food. They even have the bun mi – aka delicious Vietnamese subs.
Walking to Mini Mango on a weekday lunch rush, I was greeted with a friendly smile and tons of people waiting for their order. The place looks extremely modern and new on the inside – always a good sign when you first enter it. I ended up settling for a safe item – their pad thai. It’s obvious when ordering that this place tries to take you beyond a typical restaurant experience by asking questions such as do you have any allergies or want any substitutions, etc. I also noticed frequent customers talk to the staff and say hi. All great signs of good customer service! The Pad Thai came out within 10 minutes or so. The portion size was huge. I was starving for lunch and barely finished the dish. The dish was NOT well mixed though. Not a big deal, just a note for people wondering why there’s all the meat in one side, followed by the bean sprouts and the egg, and then the noodle. It definitely wasn’t the best pad thai I’ve ever had, but it’s a significant upgrade over fast food pad thai and left a satisfying but not too greasy feeling at the end of the meal. The place had some sit down seats, however most people got their food for take out. This place looks really popular and with the service given combined with the quality and quantity of food, I’ll definitely be back to this place. All in all, recommended.
Lots of take out going in here tonight. Store front is clean and busy too. Menu is full of choice. Pick your protein, noodle, rice, and method of cooking. Ordered a five color bowl. Five proteins, noodles, veg, two spring rolls and sauce. Cooked perfectly and arrived fast. Flavors are crisp and fresh. Portion is a good size and a great value at less than $15.
Great food! The the coconut chicken satay sandwich I had was flavourful and satisfying not to mention the great avocado smoothie I had to go with it. Plan on visiting plenty of times more.
