My parents suggested we try this place after seeing a special deal in the Chinese newspapers. The salt and pepper squid is the poorest dish here so do not order it. The dish had way too much batter so it literally tasted like you were biting into oily grease. The dishes I liked were the Beef and Chinese broccoli (fresh ingredients with a healthy taste), fried chicken which was juicy and cooked nicely, and the sweet n sour pork (the best I’ve ever had). The sugar they used in the sweet and sour pork almost tasted like a natural sugar. Prices are decent with decent portions. If you are willing to overlook the fact this place is located in forest lawn I’d recommend give this place a shot.
Was not treated very well here. Ordered food for pick up and was very clear about getting the gluten friendly options. When we arrived and paid they said it would be 5 minutes even though we showed up when we were told it was going to be ready. They had us waiting another 40 minutes on top of what I was told on the phone. Was with family so I casually and politely asked why there had been the extra wait time and he just shrugged and turned his back on us saying gluten free food takes longer to cook. Obviously they messed up the order.Food tasted decent, was definitely nice to have Chinese food that’s gluten friendly. Did not have a reaction to it. Will try once more when I am in town again if I can’t find the gluten friendly option somewhere else.
Disgusting dinner buffet on friday..yuck the food are aweful taste..on your check out they will ask you to tip..Not recommended!the dessert
Food is well below standard. Visited Dragon Gate a bit later in the evening after a movie. Ordered fried rice, almond soo gai. The rice had a funny smell to it and was over powered by whatever sauce/spice they use to cook it. The Almond Soo Gai chicken was dry and hard. Especially around the edges showing the food had been sitting out or been cooked long before then heated and served. You know when you have chicken and then leave it on a plate for a couple hours and it gets hard and leathery around the edges…yup like that. The almond sauce was no better. Over powering smell of to much soy sauce or something. Needless to say my order was to go and I live a bit away. When I got home and opened the containers I was disappointed. Are a bit of rice but ended up throwing it in the garbage. Under new management is worse then the old management. Lucky they have the lounge to keep this atrocity afloat cause the food certainly won’t. Guess I’m back to driving across town to Cherry Inn for my Chinese food but well worth it.
FOOD NOT GREAT. First time I ordered here since it changed hands, food was much better with old owners. The food was cold, and not that good at all, Rice was dry, Amund chicken was dry even with the sauce. An overall bad experience,.will not be back for sure.
Clean old style Chinese Restaurant. I was there at 7:30pm on a Friday night. Cost was $14.95 for the buffet. Food was getting a little old but the cook’s had it freshly refilled shortly after I was seated. Very nice staff, water was refilled promptly. I must say the food was really good. The ginger beef, Salt and pepper squid, sweet and sour pork were all crispy and not soggy. Pork dumplings were were plump and soft shelled. Vietnamese spring rolls were really good. I was not expecting much but wanted to give the new management a chance. I really like the traditional style Chinese decor which you don’t see much anymore. I’ll go again soon.
Empty buffet at dinner time. My husband and i went there last friday at 530 pm.. when we got up to the buffet half the dishes were empty and the other half had very little food and looked old.definately not worth 16 bucks each. when we complained we were ignored so we left without eating and our waiter seemed happy about it.
