When this restaurant first opened up, everyone was saying how great a deal you can have for hot pot soup – like half price. They even advertise all this at their door. So, my wife and I went in hoping to have good food since the price seems to be OK. You sit down and start looking at the menu and ask the waitress if the food is advertised to be discounted. We get a shocking surprise that it’s only offered on certain nights. OK, no worries. We were short on cash. So, we decided to not eat there and went somewhere else. It was kind of weird to leave a restaurant once we were seated, but I felt kind of mislead with their advertisements outside and by the word of mouth. We didn’t think much of this afterwards and didn’t bother to go back to this restaurant for a few years until today. It’s a normal Monday after Easter Sunday and just happens that my wife purchased a coupon online for $24 for 4 people. I thought let go for it since my whole family is together for once on a weekday. It was just after work and we got to the restaurant thinking we’re gonna have good food. My wife presented the coupon and immediately, the waitress said it’s not accepted. I was like WTF? I asked when the coupon can be used and the waitress said that today is a holiday – I looked around and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. When is the Monday after Easter Sunday considered a holiday, especially for a Chinese restaurant? Since this is not the first time this happened where the restaurant actually fools the customer into thinking there is a discount, I just got fed up and I decided to pull my family out of the restaurant. I cannot believe this restaurant pulls a fast one on you with stipulations on when they have discounts or when you can use the coupons. I even read carefully on the receipt of the coupon – there is no stipulations on when the coupon can be use. It even said the coupon does not expire however, the special ends April 30th, 2018 (which is stupid in itself since the statement is a double negative).Anyway, I will never go near this place and I hope this review actually helps warn people to stay away from this POS diner. It’s not even Mongolian and it’s just another Chinese hotpot that comes and goes in this city. You can buy all the ingredients and make it at home for a 10th of the price. This place tries to get you to pay in full price. Kind of ridiculous when you come to think of it. What I’m really p’d off about is that this Little POS Mongolian joint will not honour any of the advertising they have put out. Therefore, it’s a scam and it’s there to draw you in and suck your money out. Likely, most people will just go through with paying for the meal since they’re seated and don’t want to cause a scene.
Bout 8 of us went here for the hot pot.We went for two of the split pots on account of a vegetarian taking part.they give ya 3 rounds to order raw ingredients and fill your face. the price and quantity of food available are somewhere between fair and generous by most standards, so long as you ain’t a veg head.didn’t care too much for the sauce counter (where you make your dipping sauce) on account of the lack of raw egg and sesame oil … but hey, those ain’t cheap and ppl probably waste a lot, getting crazy on the sauce. would be a good idea to sell proper sauce for a few bucks.broth was decent. had lots of spice and you can work a sweat, so leave the heavy sweaters at home. also, the air fills with the scent of boiled meat and broth so expect that heavy jacket to smell like soup for a few days (incase you didn’t heed my first warning …)sierra mist comes ice cold on tap
