Came here with some colleagues after work last week. Despite having the restaurant practically to ourselves service was slow. On the upside, food isn’t very expensive. I’d recommend sticking to the pasta menu which will give you the best bang for your buck. Its not going to blow you away but i’ll come back some day.
A great place for a nice lunch. The 1/2 order of pasta is a great value and just enough. And the 1/2 price bottle of wine offering is wonderful on Wed Thurs and Fri. Our waiter was attentive and comfortable with his job and that made for a relaxed, comfortable lunch. We will be back.
Fun atmosphere in a repurposed Post Office. Staff seemed eager to please. Ample servings, good value. Our only complaint would be that the pasta sauces seem bland – seems the chef doesn’t use enough garlic.
Only downside for me was that the food and drinks can get a little pricey. The pastas are delicious, the staff is charming, friendly and welcoming, and the warm buns that served before every meal are so soft and delicious. Definitely one of the more enjoyable places to visit on whyte.
This is one of my favourite restaurants and we have been going for many years. I love the pasta and the large noodles and they have a huge selection of dishes. My favourite is the fettuccine supremo but I would recommend most of the dishes.
Our new lunch craving is pasta. Cheap and decent tasting pasta. None of that Old Spag shit. So Chianti is our flavor of the week. Penne Alla Gigi had spicy italian sausage, onion, sun dried tomatoes, garlic with spicy tomato sauce. It tasted like it looked, tomato saucy and some heat thanks to the sausage and sauce. Not a hot hot hot heat, more like a James Harden new triple black shoe hot. Linguini Marinara had baby shrimps and baby clams in a tomato sauce. @adubalicious says it was a little bit saucy but delicious. Fettuccine Supremo had scallops, smoked salmon, curry, cream, garlic and parmesan sauce. This was surprisingly really good because ive never had this curry cream on pasta before. Paired with the smoked salmon and scallops, damn, this is definitely something worth eating over and over again. Fettucine Diabloe had spinach noodles, Shrimp (instead of chicken), artichokes, red peppers and spinach in a spicy pesto cream sauce. Amanda said that, everything tasted ok, but the artichokes tasted like wet socks. Ive seen what she puts in her mouth, so I believe her statement. Tortellini Alla Marchese had veal filled noodles with pepperoncini in a cream pesto sauce. Tortellini itself is just really good because of just having a large portion of meat in one bite. Even chef boyardee makes good tortellini. The peperoncini made this dish have some heat, well a little more heat than the Penne Alla Gigi. Space Jam Jordans heat, in comparison. Dishes were all 9.99, that’s lit AF.Located on Whyte ave, this place has a decent patio when its not winter in summer and pretty decent service. Chianti is on a pokestop and close to a gym which is reachable if youre on the patio. #Valor #YellowIsStupidSal says: Just eat it (monday/tuesday lunch only lol)@adubalicious: Good portion size for the Monday/Tuesday deal. Would definitely recommend.Colin says: (Penne Alla Gigi) Good spicy sauce, tasted like store bought pasta, just ok.#yegeats #yeg #food #foodie #foodporn #instafood #delicious #yummy #lunch #italian #pasta #teamvalor
If you’re looking to go to a place for service, this is your restaurant. I’ve been to Chianti only twice, both times in a group of about 40 people. The staff were extremely patient and very accommodating. That said, the food was a little disappointing in terms of flavour (maybe it was because they were cooking for so many at once?). That said, the environment is nice and cozy which gives it it’s own unique experience!
