Nice and close to the UoA, LEVA is a quaint little corner cafe without any pretentiousness. Nice ambience, big windows to let the sunshine in and a comfortable menu.- ICED MOCHA: yummmmy. Perfect for a non-coffee drinker like me who needed a kick start for the day.- GARNEAU STYLE BREAKFAST: bacon was nice and crisp.- EGGs + SOURDOUGH: perhaps a little overpriced for what you get!
Not a great experience at this placeThe arancini were cold and dryThe pizza was nothing to speak home aboutThe only thing that saved the night was the dessert and coffeeKind of a pretentious little cafe if you ask me
This cafe is on my walk to school every morning. It’s a great place to stop in for a quick coffee or to have a nice relaxing breakfast. The ambience is very peaceful and welcoming and the servers are very friendly. I ordered their breakfast featuring the smashed avocado and egg toast and really enjoyed it, including the side of potatoes (which i normally would never touch!). I would definitely recommend coming here for a breakfast date! If you’re just coming in here for a quick stop, they also have many baked treats ready to go. The salted-caramel macaroons are a must-try!
I didn’t even get anything, and I didn’t like it. They have a rule against computers on the weekend (which is ridiculous; they are literally right in the middle of the university), and we were encouraged to leave when the barista saw we had backpacks on. Very unwelcoming. I’m sure the food is fine, and the inside is gorgeous, but I will not return. I don’t support a campus coffee shop that won’t support students.
I was alone at my table, with another 6 patrons in the entire cafe. As I ordered, sat down, and took out a book and laptop to study, a waitress came over and insisted that laptops not allowed on weekends, no matter how full they were, no exceptions. Now that is one heavy-handed policy, with utterly senseless enforcement. Used to come regularly for the past 7 years – not any more. There are better cafes within a minute’s walk, that treat customers better at that.
Ive driven past this little cube of a building a dozen times never realizing what it was. Turns out this small modern style building made up floor to ceiling windows is a charming cappuccino bar! Offering coffee, pastries, sandwiches and pizza! What had me itching to come this trip was a post I saw on instagram..looking at you macarons. This charming little cafe situated in the Garneau neighborhood, right in the heart of a residential area, you get a really homey casual vibe. The atmosphere is so fresh, the windows let in plenty of natural light, with soft music in the background mixed with the chattering from other tables – this is a cute place to come for study bites or to refuel with caffeine and sweets. I didnt end up grabbing food here or macarons- but I got a latte and tarts, with a sip of the lemonade. $4.50 latte -> great quality coffee $4.00 lemonade -> way too sour. I just had a sip and that was enough for me to say no. The tarts were yummy! The crust was favorite part. Still need to come by for a macaron and the pizzas looked really good here too! Will be back when we need a switch up from the library for study dates!
I decided to try it out for dinner yesterday after being referred to the Caf.I am extremely satisfied with the experienceI had. Manager Paolo was very inviting and knowledgeable with the menu items. We ordered what Paolo suggested and loved everything. We are excited to have dinner at Leva again soon.
