If you haven’t had this Korean culinary innovation I would highly recommend trying out Snowy Dessert for your first one. Its a fluffy, shaved milk dish. Lightly sweetened but usually with fairly decadent toppings. Most of these types of establishments serve a very similar set of toppings and such and I would love to see some diversity in the toppings or ability or mix and match or something. but as far as deserts in this genre goes Snowy Dessert is my favorite. for some reason it doesn’t seen to melt as fast as the others I have tried. I don’t know what that is. maybe its served colder, or maybe they keep the temperature in the place colder but with bingsu places (that’s what they are called) I am rushing to eat it quickly ahead of the melt, at Snowy Dessert I seem to be able to take my time.I would recommend trying it with a cookies and cream topping or the matcha topping however as the fruit toppings at any bingsu place (this one included) can be hit or miss in terms of freshness and ripeness. You might end up with under-ripe, woody toppings.

Everyones got a secret sweet tooth and shaved ice I think hits a perfect medium. Not too sweet, easy to eat, and its mostly just water if you think about it. Snowy Dessert on Whyte is a place that serves bingsu or Korean shaved ice. And its not bad at all. The place is cute from the outside with lots of seats. Their menu is ample but its easy to get lost in all their choices. I got their Strawberry Bingsu in a large size for $14. And its a decent size for at least 2 people. Piled high with whip cream and layered throughout with strawberries, syrup, condensed milk and of course some fluffy shaved ice. Presentation here is obviously key and they take their time in making each one. I had it on a not so hot day but this is perfect in the summer time. Definitely give this place a try!
