a go-to spot for late night snack in the city. favorite menu is paprika popcorn. i enjoyed chicken and waffle during my first visit so went back and ordered the same thing. second time was a little disappointing as i was expecting better tasting dish like the first time 🙁 overall, i like this restaurant but giving it 3 stars for inconsistency. but the service is always nice in my experience
The best cinnamon buns in the city!!! Great service! Love this place! Located right by the university in a warm cozy atmosphere. I went here today for my first time. Definitely recommend.
I have been to the sugar bowl a couple times and have tried their chicken and waffles, but I think I prefer the chicken and waffles at The Common. They are a cute little breakfast place to grab brunch as well as offering dinner menu items and a wide variety selection of beers and other cocktails. There is usually always a wait to find a table as this restaurant is on the smaller side.The service is always good however. As its just off whyte, finding parking can be a challenge. Worth checking out but be prepared to wait for a table and that parking wont come easy
Thanksgiving day. Got here at 11:00 am and there was a line outside. Being alone afforded me a seat at the bar right away. The place is definitely a favorite spot for locals. Gotta know it’s here to find it. Parking sucks. Ambiance inside is buzzing and warm. It took some time to even get noticed at the bar stool. Cafe au lait is quite good. Placed my order for French toast. Small menu, means they probably honed it down to favorites and there is enough variety to satisfy a small group. This is not the place to pull out any laptops to do work or other. You’re here to be with friends, drink and eat. What more do you want. Did not take long for the French toast to arrive. They were really good. Egg soaked cinnamon bread. So often, restos only show the batter to the bread. Good job here. I’ll be back.

The last time I had been here was ages ago, so was eager to go again and see why it is so popular. Every time I have been in the area was always a huge line up so I took a pass. We went on a afternoon that was not busy and sat outside. Ordered the chicken and waffles and mussels to share with a friend. I have not ever had chicken and waffles before, I did expect the chicken to be fried. Chicken was good and they put on two plates for us. Mussels were not they tasted a bit off. They put bacon in the sauce which I did not find appealing.Ordered the bread pudding to finish off, it was amazing. They said they make it with their cinnamon buns.Menu is not huge, beer menu is larger than the food one.I’m glad I tried after all this time but I will not be in a hurry to go back.
Cute little breakfast place and sunny outdoor patio, exceptional service, and licensed. The Huevos Rancheros was delicious, a little heavy, but would definitely get it again.
