Terrible place. Food was over priced and portions were smaller than most places that have better quality. It was clearly Filipinos that working in the front and the back, how can you consider it vietnamese food if it’s made by flips. Gross
Until yesterday, this was my favourite Vietnamese restaurant. It’s right near my house, and I go there about 10x/year. No more. Last night, I placed my usual takeout order (beef soup) for myself and my daughter. I believe it was the manager who served me. She repeated my order to me, and I confirmed it. But she got it wrong twice, first bringing me shrimp and then satay beef. I accepted the satay to be nice, even though it wasn’t what I wanted. But once home, I found it too spicy to eat. I returned to the restaurant and explained all of this, but she wouldn’t replace my order unless I brought the satay back. This stungI’m a good customer. I went home, poured it from my bowl into a plastic bag (I’d already thrown out the styrofoam takeout container) and returned to the restaurant. My order wasn’t readyshe said she wanted to make it fresh when I returnedbut I resented having to wait again. And she tried to make out that I had been confused in my order. I returned today, outlined my feelings, and explained that all I wanted was an apology. Instead, she schooled me on how much she lost on the discarded orders, and she wouldn’t accept that she’d made any mistakes. She said there was no security camera recording of our conversation the previous night, so who knows who said what. And she had absolutely no sympathy for my frustrating experience as her customer. I feel badly for the staff members who have served me well in the past, but I will NEVER return to Nho Saigon.
Checked out Nho Saigon last week because we heard they have the best sate beef pho. It was pretty good but not the best I’ve had. The broth was a bit thick for my liking. I’d probably still go again because it’s close to my house. The service was super fast, almost too fast. I don’t know if any of you have noticed this at certain Asian restaurants but I find that sometimes they’re trying so hard to be quick and efficient that they look like they’re about to have a complete meltdown and start screaming and then you’re looking around like what’s the hurry?? All the tables in the tiny restaurant were full but there were no people waiting to be seated so certainly no need to rush and as a result our server ended up spilling some soup on my friend’s leg. I won’t hold that against them though, they were nice people and I’m sure the rushing is just their idea of giving their customers the best service possible.
Do not pass up a chance to try the deep-fried tofu!! It sounds really boring on the menu, but it’s a generous amount of hot, crispy cubes of fried tofu in the most incredible spicy lemongrass sauce. My mom and I have been coming here since they opened(almost 10 years) just for the fried tofu and that flavourful lemongrass sauce. Don’t get me wrong– their other food is good, but the tofu is on another level!! I’ve never had anything else like it.
Really liked the stir fried chicken curry on vermicelli 🙂 and huge portion for only $8.50. We had great service and tons of candies given to us by man at the front 🙂 friends had various types of pho and liked it. Close to MRU which was where we were headed. Will likely be back!
I can’t wait to eat some of these amazing dishes in here, especially number #20 the house special soup with SATE. To be quite honest, it is the best food I ever have, I really love the house special soup with deep fried wonton, veggie,…and a little bit spicy. Although the portions is not too big, the atmosphere is very authentic. It is my favorite place on the weekend. I strongly recommend you try these food in here.
