Horrible. Old, chewy and cold food. I asked for some customer service and the old lady talked over me, raised her voice and told me to drive the food back to her! What? Glamorgan, go elsewhere! Never, never again.
Wow! We have lived in the neighbourhood for a few years and never have been but we’ve been everywhere else. The food is so good. The veggies are really fresh. So good that I signed up to write a review. I can’t believe the prices! Also all the dishes we ordered has nice veggies and very few onions and all the crappy veggies. Not greasy either. The service is great. We’ve been to the hot stone/ sushi place on 37 and it is a rip off. Avenue needs to put these guys in their magazine!!!!
Not Good!! Some of the wors…. Not Good!!Some of the worst chineese I’ve ever had. Chicken with cashew in yellow bean sauce was unrecognizable. Called to complain, was told it was their version. Tasted like BBQ chicken and overlooked. No veggies in chow main. No meat in wontons. Will never order from here again
So RUDE!. I called to place an order because I am a true lover of delicious foods and I heard the reviews were good from this restaurant. But when I called I was greeted rudely on the phone and treated extremely badly. This food better be good when it gets here because if it isn’t, I would have rather gone to KFC and got a terrible meal from people who are actually nice and accommodating and geared towards the service industry.
We ordered about 7 or 8 dishes. I really enjoyed the Singapore noodles – there was a very nice heat to it – one of the better versions I’ve sampled. I liked the generous amount of shrimp and thinly sliced red peppers. The salt and pepper shrimp were really good – crisp batter and large size of shrimp. The salt and pepper squid was good too. The house chowmein and house special rice were pretty average. The tofu and vegetable dish was tasty, but I prefer cubed firm tofu over the type they served. The vegetables were still crisp and very fresh. Ginger beef was one of the better versions in the city. The portions are generous and the food arrived hot and fresh. No complaints. Pearl Express is our new Chinese take-out spot. hittingthesauce.wordpress.com
Under new management – Ok food. Been in the area for close to 10 years, and we’ve gone to Pearl Express every so often, but haven’t gone in a while. Went Friday after work and discovered that Pearl Express is now under new management.Just looking over their menu, doesn’t look like the prices have changed since the last time we’ve been there, but I could be mistaken.I do know that their dinner for 2 used to be $27.50, and when we went it was still the same price. For what you get (wonton or hot and sour soup, 2 spring rolls, chicken fried rice, and 2 entrees – depicted by stars on the menu, we chose the broccoli with beef and pineapple sweet and sour pork) it is a decent value.Wonton soup was ok, there is no shrimp in the wontons but it is of a fair size. The wontons were ok, decent pork flavour and the wrapping was not cooked until it disintegrated, which is good. There was 8 wontons altogether. The broth was a tad on the salty side though. The spring rolls were very good, deep fried until the outer layer was very crunchy but the inside was moist. This is a vegan spring roll though. The chicken fried rice was a disappointment. It was lacking in chicken, peas, and eggs, it was basically just rice, and was pretty much bland. The broccoli/beef was good, decent portions of beef and the broccoli was cooked until it had abit of a bite to it. It was smothered in an oyster sauce, so each floret had a nice burst of oyster sauce flavour to it. The beef was tender, and cooked well.Sweet/sour pork was average, it had a decent amount of pineapples, and the pork was cut into nice bite sized pieces. It was deep fried well, had a nice crunch to it while the sauce provided a nice sweet yet sourness to the whole experience. None of the pork were dry, so I did appreciate that.I also noticed that before, it was an open kitchen. So if you went in and ordered and decided to wait for your meal, you can see the cook preparing your order. Now they’ve placed a wall behind the counter blocking the view of the kitchen.Service was ok, we called ahead so when we got there our order was waiting for us. It was also packed neatly, and everything was in there, like condiments and fortune cookies.Overall, not a bad place and the food does seem have improved since being under new management.
Great food, terrible delivery. Delivery took 2 hours restarant gave me a discount. I always pik up now. Food is great and people are very helpful!
