One of the best in Calgary. Average price for a great pizza !My son and myself order a xl half Hawaiian and ham and fresh tomatoes , the pie is always fresh and hot . They use real mozzarella cheese and lots of it , the fillings are generous and the sauce is awesome ! Over all a great pizza , but as one reviewer wrote, it’s More of pie for the adults 🙂
Awesome greek style pie. I’ve had Sophies around 30 times in the last 10 years. We either get my favourite the Sophie special or my better halfs choice the Hawaiian. Either way we can expect a delicious sauce, cheese right to the edge and plenty of toppings on this prairie style pizza. The pizza is never burnt on the top like many of the other spots in the city that try to accomplish this style of pie. Overall an excellent choice.
Not what it used to be. The pizza has always been overpriced but before now, I was willing to pay for delicious pizza with crispy cheese on top, all the way over the crust which wasn’t too doughy or soggy with just the right amount of toppings. Now it’s under cooked, the crust is way too thick and doughy (it’s like they’re using it as a filler now) and the cheese seems really cheap, like see-through plastic cheap. The crust was the main reason I loved this pizza and now there is no reason. The bottom of the pizza wasn’t even the slightest bit crispy and it was extremely greasy. Hate to say it, but since newer people started working there the quality has nose dived.
Pizza used to be great. I was a big fan if their pizzas even back in the days of Spiros from whence they came before the family feud. As all things must pass so to has the pizza that I loved. Ordered the vegetarian and the Mediterranean Dream, what s nightmare! The inside of the crust was raw dough and not edible. To their credit they gave me a credit got the purchase so I have to give them one more chance. It could have been an anomaly but I think the quality has continued to decline since the expansion to Airdrie.
Very good pizza, expensive. A weird turn of events had us calling for Sophie’s one evening (Thurs.) for dinner – pizza delivery.We ordered the XL Classic Hawaiian and M Classic Pepperoni. The guy who answered the phone was courteous and professional, and I also liked the fact that you only had to give your home phone and all the details were there (name, address) – granted if you’ve been there before.The guy on the phone didn’t inform me of how long it would take, but from other pizza delivery places, I was wagering 30-40 min. After only 25 ish minutes, the pizza delivery guy arrived. The pizza was hot, and the smell intoxicating.The pizzas were quite good, especially the crust. It had a slight ‘burnt’ flavour to it without it looking or tasting burnt, and it has to be one of the better crusts I’ve had. Amount of topping was average, but there was generous amounts of pizza sauce. The cheese was cooked until it had a crunchy like texture.On the downside, Sophie’s is pricey. It cost us around $40 for a XL and M pizza, and I also noticed Sophie’s doesn’t offer any kind of multiple pizza deals.
Pricy but good. Very pricy pizza! It was good pizza, but I can find better for a lower price.
