Linda and I have been going to Alpine Sausage & Deli for many years now. When Brett Norman took over the shop a few years back, the result was almost immediate and very positive. And that was tough to do, since the shop was already excellent. His products are of the highest quality, made right on site by this master butcher. Yes, there’s a Danish flair to it, but the steaks and ribs and pork and sausages … and all the other unique things this store carries will bring you back often. I love this place, and wouldn’t go anywhere else. He’s independent and local, producing the best quality at a reasonable price. What more could I ask? What an awesome butcher!

Love this place!! The owners are so friendly and make every trip to get meat so lovely. I am obsessed with their hot Italian sausages. But all of it is good – check out their tummy steaks too!

Great butcher. This deli/butchershop is top notch. The owner is always willing to chat and answer questions. My husband spends way too much money here ! Everything tastes amazing. The sausages and the bacon steaks are my favorite. We even purchased our easter ham here this year.

If only there were labels!. A nice little meat shop run by an agreeable young man who makes very good sausage, smoked meats, etc. A good assortment of imported condiments and specialty foods are also available. The shop is tiny. Feels crowded if only three people are in it, so it’s not a place you want to browse unless you happen to be there alone. Usually, I grab what I came for and go. The up side is that you get very good handmade deli meats without a lot of the additives that are present in the commercially made versions of the same products. The down side is that it’s hard to know what you are getting unless the owner happens to be in the shop to tell you. None of the packages have labels or ingredient lists on them (I don’t know how he gets away with that. The law requires that packaged foods be labelled.) and the shop assistants know nothing at all–cannot answer even the simplest question–about any of the meat products. As someone with food allergies and sensitivities, I have frequently left the shop without something I wanted to try simply because the staff could not tell me whether it contained something that I cannot eat (or what it does contain). The lack of labelling also causes the staff to make mistakes. The shop carries two types of breakfast bacon, for example, plain smoked and maple. I cannot eat the maple variety, so I always ask for the plain smoked. More than once, I have been given the maple, and it’s easy to see how they could be mixed up because plain shrinkwrapped packages of bacon slices all look pretty much the same.Alpine’s products are as good as any of the artisan meat products that I’ve had from any of the other local providers at farm markets etc., but it is much easier to shop from some of those competitors (Sunworks or Old Country Sausage, for example) because they label their products and list ingredients. This not only makes it easier to make buying decisions, but also (especially if you are someone who buys in bulk) to remember what’s in a package when you pull it out of the freezer a couple of weeks or a month later. At the very least, Alpine ought to consider providing shelf tags with product names and ingredient lists.

More than a deli. This place is more than a deli – and has a great selection (considering how tiny it is) of imported food items from Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, etc. They’ll have my eternal love and devotion as long as they keep bringing in my Finnish addiction, Turkisk Pebars….
