Ive heard people rave about this place, so i tried their sandwich, small bit pieces and some side (mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes and gravy). The cajun sandwich really had no taste, it wasnt spicy at all so I was disappointed. The small chicken pieces were quiet good, but the mashed potatoes was an experience I never wish to repeat. Overall I think I enjoyed the mac and cheese best which says a whole lot about this place….
For some reason this location doesnt offer the same specials as the south side location. Cant order the $3.99 popcorn shrimp by itself and need to have it as an add on to a combo???Otherwise, chicken is fresh and hot…fries crispy….busy location and small area so it can get very crowded in the location and parking.
I seriously do not understand what is the hype about this place we have tried it few months ago and they tasted like cr*p the chicken and popcorn shrimp is just too salty and the most important thing is its not fresh they refried the chicken and you can taste the staleness of old reused oil…and its just so greasy at the shop the minute you walk in you can already smell that greasiness…Ok so we wanted to give it a second chance which we regretted instantly…we ordered fish and popcorn shrimp and no surprises they were gross and cold…including the Cajun fries and onion rings too *disgusting* I hope you all can see how unfresh they are in my picture…please dont waste your $$ there…there are actually many good fried chicken places in Edmonton but sorry I will never go back to Popeyes again.
Super busy but service was still great, very quick and friendly! I have been a few times now, food has been extremely tasty. Popeyes is now my favourite fried chicken!
I’ve only been to the southeast location once. I’d say I am a frequent comer to this location now. I don’t know why, but it’s just on the way when I get a chance and I was told it is not as busy as the SE location. I found the chicken to be the main star once again and this time I actually ordered cajun fish and popcorn shrimp and onion rings just to prove it to myself. They tasted horrible / inedible and were not worth my money. My 4.5 star rating goes to the big, juicy, non-greasy pieces of chicken, the friendliness of the staff, and their willingness to fix a mistake over social media / e-mails and provide free food as compensation. Since then I’ve been coming here more frequently and I’d say fixing a mistake goes a long way. It’s hard to get seating here so I often eat outside with the pigeons / seagulls / what-have-you in the scorching sun and howling winds. I don’t like that at all but I’d rather eat the chicken outside fresh than to drive home and find them soggy, or worse yet, having the wrong order. Come visit whichever Popeyes location is most convenient to you. I don’t think I’d discern the two too much if you are a die-hard chicken lover looking for the purest of the pure of fried chicken.
Opening to much fanfare, the north side Popeyes gives north Edmonton the Popeyes they want without having to come south side to pick up and get their Popeyes fix. I heard that waits were up to an hour on opening day, so it’s clear that everyone in Edmonton loves their fried chicken!I stopped by on a quiet Monday afternoon since I was in the area running some errands. Compared to the south side location, this location seems more spacious with a bit less seating, though this was at a quick glance so I could be wrong. The line moved really fast. They had 3 tills open at once, and my order was ready within 5 minutes. I was really impressed with how fast the service was! Service was friendly and personable, and I really enjoyed my overall experience here.I swear portion sizes here are a bit smaller than the one south side, but are still good regardless. Their spicy chicken had flavour and spice deeper than the surface of the chicken which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m not sure how busy this place gets during peak times, however if anything is like my experience, I would not be worried about long lines here. All in all, I prefer this location a bit more than the south side one due to service, but this place is really far for me to go to on a regular basis. You can’t go wrong with spicy fried chicken from Popeyes – once you’ve tried it you’ll be hooked :). Recommended.
With all the hype of fried chicken places opening up in the city in the past year, I was definitely happy when I heard Popeyes was going to open up. The one on the southside was just too far to venture out and to have to wait in line was just not worth the drive, but when I found out the northside was also opening up one, I was ecstatic about it.Went here on April 19th, 2017; about a week after the grand opening to avoid long line ups and wait time for some fried chicken. There was still a line up when I went, but surprised how the restaurant and the staff was so well prepared for the large crowd waiting. I ordered a 3 piece meal with one side, a drink and a biscuit. I thought the size of the chicken was a bit small and it is slightly more expensive compared to KFC or Mary Browns. But that being said, this is one of the best fried chicken I have eaten from a restaurant food chain. It was so good that I came back 4 days later and ordered a family meal to take home. I do wish the Alberta stores would soon have daily deals like they do in Ontario or supply us with some coupons.
