Finally got to try this place!! The corn fritters are great, as the other reviews say. Fluffy, tasty and yummy! The fried chicken was only alright, I didn’t taste any seasoning or spices, just the deep fried taste. The chicken was much greasier than other fried chicken places I’ve been to and I would have to say I prefer Popeye’s chicken more. The lack of flavor in the chicken is why I wouldn’t come back here.
A nice treat every once in a while. The fries aren’t usually the freshest & there always seems to be an item within my combo that requires a wait, thus making all the items which are already put together in the box beforehand much less fresh. The fries are my main issue, as they are usually either overcooked or not fresh, making them hard & not edible. Chicken is delicious if you like your coating on the saltier side.
i have been going to kensington chicken on the way for 45 years and love the food there.lately their food and service has been getting poor. you never know what your going to get. dry chicken and fries are what i have been getting. my order was wrong twice in one week and i told the girl at the counter my order was wrong on the 4th of march and all i got was excuses and i ordered a family pack on the 12th and i ordered one gravy and one potato salad and when i got home i had two gravies. this is unacceptable and not the chicken on the way i’ve known. i sent a message to the company but got no reply. shows how much they care about their product and service. i think i will be trying a new place for fried chicken.
Love that this location has been around for so long and not replaced by some dumb high-rise or something else the city does not need. Their chicken is OK, could definitely use some seasoning. Their gravy and fries are tasty and their corn fritters are delicious! Nice and sweet with a crispy skin on the outside. Priced very well and the staff are cheerful.
This location has been around since 1958, and it still serves excellent old school fried chicken Don’t forget the corn fritters… This is my place to indulge in deep fried goodness!
Very inconsistent. Been going there for 35 years and lately it seems, you can’t get the same quality on a regular basis. Drove 15 kilometers today to get hard and dry fries and dry chicken. Getting tired of coming home with crap. I’m finished with the place.
This is the one and only joint in Calgary whose chicken doesn’t give my boyfriend Norman diarrhea! I think the key is the seasoning- It really is a delicate dance of salty perfection in the ballroom that is my mouth, and my goodness the batter is wonderful! Most places fry the chicken too much, and always over salt, which I think is what upsets Norman’s very sensitive digestive tract.
