We are so lucky to have such an exotic restaurant like this is Calgary! As soon as you walk in you are transported to Morocco. The rich decor with all of the blankets, pillows, ornate furniture and tenting is incredible. The server starts off with a ritualistic hand washing at the table which involves an intoxicating mandarin blossom water. I am not obsessed with this water So the food! We ordered an array of appetizers from the spinach stuffed pastry to the kebabs and everything was delicious!! Trust me the food is way more filling than it looks. Everything was perfect and paired with a red wine. Service was extremely friendly and attentive. They love to tell you all about the food, culture, etc! We were so comfortable here we couldve stayed all night. I cant wait to return and bring some family for their first visit so that I may see their reaction to this gem

Dining at Sultan’s Tent is an experience. Each table is enclosed by carpets and contains multiple pillows, allowing for ample privacy and comfort. Before and after the meal, your hands are washed with orange blossom water so you can eat without utensils. The food is pricey but delicious and the portions are massive. My only complaint is the very slow service. We are fast eaters and ended up sitting at the restaurant for 3 hours. With the layout being so private, it can be difficult to track down a server to try and speed up the process. My advice: allow lots of time to dine here and accept the slow service as part of the experience while enjoying a post food coma nap at your cozy seat.

This place is amazing! Such a great culinary experience. It was date night and decided to try out a cuisine that we were not familiar with and I’m glad we chose this restaurant! Had the sultans feast and was pleasantly surprised with the unique flavours. The service was fantastic and explained everything in detail as he knew this was our first experience but it won’t be the last

This place gets 4 for ambiance. As far as setting it can’t be beat. We had an anniversary and we had this secluded little table — it was a charm. Pillows, yeah. Oh, and the food was ok. I had the Cornish hen tajine, it tastes like chicken $28 later. She had lamb couscous. Again, $28. This is street food. You eat it with your hands. I cracked my tooth on an olive. I don’t know if it’s authentic or not, but it was enjoyable all things considered, if not pricey for what you get. But that’s not why you go.

The food at this place is really yummy, the quail tagine being my personal favourite. Their dishes offer a huge variety and everything comes out looking and tasting terrific. They bring you orange blossom warm water to wash your hand at the table before dining, as you have the option to use your hands to eat here. The water smells wonderful and it’s nice, even if it’s not my cuppa. The ONLY thing I think these guys could improve upon (and why I didn’t rate them as 5/5) is having less grouchy wait staff. Also, unless I explicitly tell you I am illiterate, blind, or have never eaten Moroccan food and I need you to break the ENTIRE menu down for me, line by line, please don’t. Please stop telling your waitstaff to read the entire menu to hungry dinner guests who’s appetite you will surely ruin with a robotic rant. Perhaps invest some time in making your menu descriptions more informative, so people can make their choices without having to listen to a grouchy server rattle off every single menu item before taking your order. Also, cut the attitude when diners ask for cutlery, that is so unnecessary.

This was the first restaurant I took my (then) girlfriend to, but we loved it so much that we go back every year on our dating anniversary, and have also been here many times with family and friends. It has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere, with interesting (and of course tasty) food and drink. This isn’t the place to go if you are in a hurry, but that is a benefit IMHO since the tables are isolated and comfortable to sit at (soft couches). Expect to take a couple of hours working through the various appetizers (B’stilla Royale, marinated vegetable salad), couscous and tagine (usually we have one each per couple), and desert. If you’ve never been before, the Sultan’s feast is highly reccomended. It is traditional to eat with your hands, so bring your sense of adventure with you.

I have had the feast here twice and was blown away twice. The service is lovely, the atmosphere is incredible. I love the cozy private booths decorated with beautiful tapestries and pillows. The food in amazing!
