When I saw pictures from followers on instagram with the newly opened Chicken on the Way a while back; I knew I must go and check out their fried chicken. I love fried chicken…who doesn’t. I ordered the 8 piece family meal which also comes with a medium fries, a medium side of your choice and 6 fritters. My car smelled so good hahaha! Yes, I was pretty excited to get home to eat dinner. There was 2 really huge pieces, 2 medium size pieces, 2 drums and 2 wings. Overall good size fried chicken. After the first few bites and tasting of everything, I have to admit I was totally not impressed. It looked like the chicken was fried in some old oil as the chicken was dark and very greasy. Same with the fries, just dark, greasy and soggy. The fritters was dark as well, but it did tasted good. I got a side of coleslaw and it was very bland, watery with a brownish color. The coleslaw looked like it was weeks old and left in the fridge. Unfortunately, I ended up throwing the coleslaw in the garbage as I didn’t think it was edible. While waiting for my order; I noticed the restaurant just lacked in design and was not eye pleasing. It was about 530pm and there was no one in the restaurant. The service at the counter was fast and they were really nice. To conclude my review; I probably won’t be coming back.

Finally, cotw is in Edmonton and it’s just as good as the og restaurant. This huge Hungry Man Dinner had 5 pieces of chicken, fries, 2 corn fritters and gravy. Chicken was moist and juicy, but the skin was super greasy as expected. The main attraction here is the fritters as it has to be experienced with a side of honey and a piece of chicken in your mouth. Heaven. The shrimp was ok, it had a good dipping marinara sauce but just more of the same with the batter being deep fried to oblivion.Located on stony plain and 165th st, this place is somewhere you’d visit to induce a food coma. Cotw is cheap, tasty and fast. Great fried chicken! They use the Hutterite chicken and everything is moist and far less greasy than competitors. The value for money is excellent as well, especially the 12$ hungry man special, as they don’t cheap out on quantity for anything! Service has been great both times I have gone, the lady at the counter is very freindly, and you don’t have to wait long at all. I gave a 4 instead of a 4.5 because the fries could use a bit of work still; they arent awful fries, but they definitely could be better. The chicken itself again is top notch, and doesn’t charge you 10$ a piece.
