Came here when it was still down Macleod for a friends birthday. Was loud and packed inside. Waitress was ok, came around every once in a while. Food was ok. The bartender was really good though, talking to customers and adding flair to making drinks. Might consider coming back.
Just took the family there for dinner as now that the VLT’S are gone kids are allowed until 8pm. Met a few of the owners and they were extremely polite and welcoming as well as our waitress (Tracy) was amazing. Food was great (although more batter on the deep fried pickles would be in order!) And the prices were on par. Also did I mention PINBALL MACHINES! 7 or 8 of em, and every other Wednesday they have a free play night where you pay 8 bucks and get to play from 7 until close on free play. Would definately recommend it!
We came here after a rec hockey game as the arena was right across the street. I’ve been the the trap and gill in Edmonton and had an amazing time with amazing food. Here is was pretty quiet so the atmosphere was not the same but we were in for some beer and muchies anyways. The wings were ok, very sparse on the sauce and size, other people at our table had the fish and chips and they fairly good . Overall it was ok, not memorable in any way and had there been more people in the joint it might have been more lively and entertaining.
Great place to go if you love live music, great beer selection, amazing chicken wings. My server the few times I have been there chaylene is one of the best waitresses in the city!
I normally don’t venture to pubs for lunch, but the Trap and Gill has been a great community participant in both the 2016 Poutine and Taco Week events so being in the area I went to try them out.Make no mistake, the food is pub fare, but they take an Eastern Canadian approach to their theme. For Poutine week they put up their Atlantic Fries which had pieces of bread on a Nova Scotian dressing. It was an interesting savoury gravy that tasted like a turkey dinner. The fries were a nice firm consistency. The Donair Taco was an interesting entry into #yycTacoFiesta. Simplistic like the donairs out east: spicy beef with tomato and onion. The sauce though didn’t look like much – not the thick milky consistency I was expecting, but had a surprisingly really nice strong sweetness to the flavour. It really was essentially like a mini donair. The place is huge, with a patio to relax on for nice days. Never seems to be busy during weekday lunches, but from what I hear the place is often packed on weekends with lots of entertainment and performers.
Great live band on Friday night. Food was fine – as good as you would expect in a pub. Service was good – no issues. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t been here. We enjoyed our visit!
If you want to sit on a patio, drink beer and eat some ok pub food then this is the place for you in the summer. It tries to be an east coast pub but realistically it’s just any other pub in the city, not too much special about it, gets an average rating for an average pub
