Good service, however I wish the food was warmer. That was the reason for one mark lost, the other was the onions… They were so plain and greasy, it soured the overall experience. That being said the food itself was good albeit expensive.

Absolutely love this place, the food is simply the best Ukrainian around that i know of! Great place to grab a great meal very quickly. It was clean and the ladies working were fast and friendly!

Improved over the years. We’ve been going to this place on a off for years, wife’s a Uker. I think that they have generally improved. The nalysnyky is much thinner and more delicate. The meatballs are more meaty and chunky. The old Kubie they used was mealy and fat, the new one is much better, dense and flavorful. The fried chicken is my personal fav.. Yea, is greasy and salty but it’s the way I like it. It’s not like perogies in cream sauce and bacon bits are heart healthy.anyways. 🙂

I had high hopes. I grew up on this food, as did many other people in Edmonton, too bad this isn’t very good stuff. I’ve been there three times now, and each time I’ve been left wanting.Perogies are greasy, cabbage rolls are made with too much rice. Meatballs lack flavour. Trust me when I say I really wanted to like this place, but I’ve finally given up. If you want ukranian food in town, I’m not sure where else to send you, so this might have to fill your crave, but it’s not really what you’re looking for.

Tasty lunch experience! A lot different cuisine than I normally go for- was able to try lots of different Ukrainian foods for an affordable price. Only downside is there there wasn’t any healthy options really available – other than diet coke :p perogies were perfect though 🙂

Consistancy is important. I have been to Shumka many times, since me and my husband both like Ukrainian food. however, every time we go, the food quality was always different, specially the chicken, sometimes it is good, sometimes very salty, sometimes very greasy. The last time we went was on Labor Day long weekend. the chicken was so bad, I actually felt queasy for an entire day after I ate.(Since i don’t eat greasy food very often) The server is alway the same middle-aged lady, her pushy way of service makes my husband uncomfortable, I agree with him, but I told him, we don’t go there to listen to her, we go there to eat.

Yummy!. In a city with a pretty large Ukrainian population, there are surprisingly few Ukranian restaurants. Why? I’m not sure. Ukrainian food is delicious! And this place is no exception.Great food, friendly staff, clean environment. Highly recommend this place!
