This has been my absolute favorite restaurant for years now. The beef tataki has got to be one of the best in the city. It’s very buttery and you get a lot of pieces on one dish. Another favorite of mine I always get is the sweet passion roll. The way the salmon is seared always gives it the best umami. If you’re not a huge fan or just transitioning into sashimi, I’d give the seared rolls a try. You wont regret it.This place is usually pretty busy especially on weekends, so I recommend making reservations or coming right when they open at 4:30pm. Beat the dinner rush!
very big portion here. I ordered the bento box with the mini sashimi don… and my husband got a bento box with sushi. oh man we have to pack our food home and eat it at midnight. I would definitely come back for more.
This our favourite sushi place in Edmonton. We have brought many friends and everyone agrees that the food is amazing. Always delicious and always friendly service.
Kobe has been a Callingwood staple for many many years now, and is quite well known for its sushi and sashimi. My friend and I had troubles finding a sushi place that opened at 430pm on Sundays (because apparently all of them open at 5pm…except this one). We ended up coming to Kobe, which a few years ago was one of my favourite Japanese restaurants. We got there at 430pm, and after waiting around the entrance for about 5 minutes, was seated by the hostess. It’s really cool when you walk in and straight ahead you can see the chefs who welcome you to the restaurant. I ended up getting their Small Dinner Bento with Sashimi. Yummm. We got the food fairly quickly, and as always the portion size was quite decent especially for Edmonton Japanese food. The sashimi pieces were thickly sliced and fresh, and everything was great. The salad had a bit too much sauce on it, but this is a minor problem that can easily be overlooked by everything else there. This place tends to fill up quickly so it would be best to make a reservation! Parking is plentiful and service is attentive and not too intrusive. Prices are fairly affordable and competitive to other similar Edmonton restaurants that have good sushi and sashimi. All in all, recommended.
Great place with quick and attentive service. Been coming for years and will continue to do so. Everything I have had has been fresh and very tasty. Highly recommended!
Kobe Sushi has become our favourite sushi place in the Edmonton area. Whenever my wife and I go for sushi, she goes for sashimi and I usually go for different maki rolls, a yaki tori, an order of gyoza and/or whatever catches my eye. At Kobe, my wife’s Sashimi Deluxe is always fresh, and my starters and rolls are second to none! My personal favourite is the Volcano Roll, but it is NOT diet food, being deep fried with cream cheese and crab inside and topped with crispy potato crunch and amazing Volcano sauce!! Whether done-in or take-out, you’re guaranteed to enjoy every bite!
My original and favorite Kobe Sushi restaurant! I hope this place has nothing to do with the horrible south side Kobe Sushi and Ramen location. Because I’m about to say that this place has great food, great service, and decent bang for your buck. The deep fried squid had some degree of older oil or reused oil and it made it taste so awesome. The salt content was perfect too. I was so tempted to order a Japanese beer and eat this izakaya style. The sushi rolls were saucy, as always, but it wasn’t offensively saucy. I quite enjoyed it and I think the raw fish was pretty good. Everything was just awesome here. The lighting and the crowded seating space was probably not as good but I can overlook all of that. Last but not least, we had a huge group of people eating here but they gave us proper, clear bills that do not have 15-21% gratuity added like some other crooks out there. I gladly tipped without being handcuffed into doing a mandatory amount. I will be back and I will continue to recommend this sushi place as a go-to for all my friends. It’s hard to find an all-in-one Japanese restaurant that can do appetizers, sashimi, rolls, etc correctly without losing selection or faltering on taste and value. This place has it all.
