Special day ruined :(. This is the coffee shop that I first met my fiance’. Everything was fine that first time, and we went back a couple times and things were OK. I decided to propose to my lady there, as it is a special spot to us. The staff was not only unhelpful- they were almost spiteful! Proposing is a pretty rattling thing as is, and so much worse when people are in the opposite corner. First off, I could tell she wasn’t happy that I was decorating the front area with flowers- even though the shop was nearly empty. I was planning on singing to my (then) girlfriend, so I also requested to have the music turned off right before she arrived. They not only left the music on, but they even turned it up halfway through my proposal! I found this incredibly rude, and it definitely (in my mind) tainted my proposal- something that was unbelievably important to me. What I don’t get is that they not only got all of the business I brought in, but free advertising as well! I’m super disappointed in them, and even though the spot is special to us, I don’t think we’ll ever go back- to any second cup for that matter.

The hours posted on their website are incorrect as I found out when I arrived at 9:30 one night. The open sign was still on and there were people still inside drinking and visiting. I was told they were closed and was refused service. Service is slow and staff are not all that friendly. I am always charged more for my drink at this location than others too. BIG DISSAPOINTMENT!
Cheap owners. The cafe is overly decorated and all the good seats are always reserved. Always. It is crowded with tables/chairs touching one another. No privacy no real ambiance for a cafe. I agree with others, the owners are cheap, cheap and greedy. I guess they need to save money in order to buy more gaudy decor.

Second Cup. I’m not sure about the owners and what not, but in general, the few times I’ve been there, I’ve really enjoyed myself. The atmosphere and decorations set a nice mood inside to sit and have conversations. I can’t really say for service, but the girls behind the counter seem to be nice people. All around, I think it’s a good place to meet up with people and have a conversation over coffee. If you haven’t gone there, just give it a shot. PS. For all second cups, go try out their italian sodas. They’re a dollar during the summer 😀
I don’t like this second cup. The good seats are always reserved, the owners are unfriendly, and the atmosphere is poor. I always drive to the one on 149th st because they understand the value of good customer service
