Whats the hubbub?. Unfortunately its all flash no substance here. Fries were just ok and definitely not 8 dollars quality. They give you one little thing of ketchup or sauce. Maybe I just tried the blandest fry but I don’t think I’d give it another shot. The sausage seemed to be popular though.
45 minute wait for fries?!. Overrated. Waitied 45 minutes for french fries and the line was maybe 15 people deep. Ordered the Sophia – which did not contain a lick of truffle oil and a quarter teaspoon of parm at most. Very dissapointing.
Tried this food truck at the Marda Gras, ordering the Sofia 32oz. The wait time was a crazy 25 minutes, and this order was a bit pricey at $9.00. That said, they were good quality fresh-cut fries, and tasty with the truffle oil, although they could have used more parmasagan cheese. Due to the painfully slow service and the price doubtful I will try them again.
Delicious and Quick!. We’ve tried to visit Fries and Dolls a number of times over the last month but by the time we get there they’re always sold out and closing up shop. So today we stalked them to the Mutt Show and finally got to enjoy their creations. Let me first say that the wait was incredibly quick (especially when compared to our hour and a half long fiasco at Alley Burger a few weeks ago), from waiting in line to getting our food we maybe waited 10 minutes.We ordered the Sophia and the Farrah and they were both scrumptious- the B cup is definitely huge, I don’t know who could eat a full D cup! We also really enjoyed the chipotle sauce. We give Fries and Dolls an 8/10, a very worthwhile food truck!
Prepare to wait. When chasing one of the most popular food trucks in Calgary, be prepared for a wait. I’ve never seen this truck without a line and often they run out of product pretty quickly due to demand. It actually happened to me waiting in line for 20 minutes – they ran out of truffle oil and grana padano parmesan, so I couldn’t get the Sofia.However there are other items on the menu worth getting. I got the classic combinations for both regular fries and yam fries. Both the Fergie and Rita were basic fries with high quality ingredients (pink sea salt and cracked black pepper). I thought the regular fries would be the better, but I found the crispness and heavier weight of the yam fries were better for texture. The fries are generous portions as well, regardless of if you get the 16 oz B cup or the 32 oz. D cup – I think the smaller portions were more than enough for a meal.I enjoyed what I ordered, but not sure if I’d be prepared to wait in line to get these same fries again. I think I’ll try them at least one more time, just so I can say I had the elusive Sophia. Again, like the other food trucks, you’ll likely be paying just under $10 for a meal here, but if you’re a fan of fries with some powerful ingredients, give Fries and Dolls a chance.
Like the plac but pricing could be better. If you were comparing it to other food trucks in NYC, then it’s expensive. Taste wise, delicious! Fries were served when it’s hot and with a smile. Great snack in the middle of the afternoon
