Nope. Not again. For the last 3 years makisu has been my favorite sushi place in town, and one of my favorite place to have lunch with friends or with my daughter. Last 3 years had been great until one of the server started charging me for my then 8 months old daughter. (Yes, just imagine how an 8 month old baby eats) I mean yes, its just a $3 extra, tbh, i dont mind paying extra, because honestly i give her a bite of my food every now and then.. But then again, its a buffet, her having a bite or two of my food doesnt make me order a bunch extra more. This happens a lot of times. Sometimes when other server accepts our payment, i dont get charge, so its just really her. I think she hates me, for what reason i dont know why. Either way, be professional. That happens everytime we go there until today, she charged me and my daughter but she didnt charge the son of my friend who is 19 months old. Just plain unprofessional. I dont think i’ve been treated fairly. (Btw my daughter is 2 y o now) For me thats a really bad service and experience. The fact that they dont refill your water constantly when it gets empty, or the fact that they drop wrong orders at your table, or missed an order. All those i let it go and kept my mouth shut coz i love sushi and this place is close to me, but how i have been treated over the last year is not cool anymore. Im pretty sure there are other sushi place in town. Im sorry but i wont be coming back to this place, which means i wont be bringing my friends either. Have fun losing customers because of your bitchy staff.Very unacceptable. I do not recommend this place. Also, washroom is always always nasty.
Ate here on a Friday night. Quite a busy place. Sushi is reasonable. The All You Can Eat menu is only for your usual sushi. I wanted to try the Volcano roll which sounded delicious but that meant I had to order from the regular menu. The price still worked out to about the same as if I went with all you can eat (had an appetizer, spicy tuna roll and the volcano roll). The volcano roll sounded good in theory but was very hard to eat – large pieces that you had to break or pick apart and more imitation crab than any tuna or better fish pieces. They actually crush up Doritos and sprinkle it on top, not sure how I feel about that. The roll is deep fried and has imitation crab shredded on top mixed with nacho cheese Doritos. The deep fried salmon belly was also very hard – I suspect they put the fish in cold in the fryer so it was hard and soaked up the grease. Good presentation though. Service was reasonable. Restaurant a bit run down.
Worst service. Servers are soooooo unpleasant and very rude… I think they forgot what their job is asking them to do…
Not the greatest service but…. My wife and I go almost every weekend. Tables are close and ya believe it of not they speak Japanese. crazy. Wish I had the whithest white English ppl making my sushi. The food is amazing. And afford able. Never been for dinner but am going tonight. You don’t like it go to a diff buffet where all your food is under a heat lamp.
Well after the sushi restaurant in Claresholm closed we ventured off to Lethbridge and came across this place. The sushi was not bad, some was quite good in fact, but it was not exceptional. The service was about the same, just OK and a bit on the slow side. We will have to keep looking for a new place to frequent I’m afraid.
Ok food with horrendous service.. You are taken to your seats and they are really close to the next tables (awkwardly close) . If your lucky your under excited under paid waitress brings a drink somewhat soon but usually not ( drink sparingly) as they don’t bring drinks very often ( I asked for a refill on my pop 3 times last visit and never got it once) quite clear that they don’t want you eating or drinking too much on there all you can eat lunch special ( which let’s be honest) doesn’t include half of there food and no sushima. I will not spend my money there again. And there are Better places with better service for the same price. Oh and by the way. They pre cook all the shrimp tempura and leave it sitting under a heat lamp and grab it with their hands and throw it in your basket. Yummy!
Nasty Waitress. The food is somewhat good and affordable only if you go before 3:00pm since its 15$ and for dinner it’s 28$ Not WORTH for such limited items , and the service is horrible went few times ,the waitress just throws the plates full of food across the table instead of placing it mannerly. Very Disappointing when they start talking and laughing in their own language loudly , I find it very unprofessional . Not going again.
