We like. State & Main is a great go-to for a casual night out. The food is consistently good, as is the service. Prices reasonable for the quality and portions sizes.
My wife and I were sat quickly, but then left ignored in the corner. Another table was sat and served, we got up, put our coats on and no one was even around to know we were leaving. We walked 50 feet to Tony Romas, were sat and served very quickly despite having a fairly full dining room. I called the restaurant to speak to the manager to let them know, what had happened – like another reviewer has said, clearly over his head. I think he apologized, but it was a very confusing conversation. He clearly doesn’t possess people skills – and I wasn’t even escalated.
After last night i won’t be returning. Our server was amazing but at doesn’t make up for the bad food. We frequent state and main often. And since my mother in law was in town we figured it would be a nice, low key and tasty meal. First of all, despite the restaurant being nearly empty they seated us in the very corner directly beside the kitchen where all the traffic moves in and out. Second the food was not good. From the overcooked, overpriced l, dry freezer burnt calamari, to the cold fries and wilted salad, to the too bland, too dry sandwich. I felt bad even taking our guests there. The manager is clearly ib over hia head as the place has steadily declined since opening. Hats off to the friendly wait staff but will not be back. This place is awful!
Disappointed. We regularly go to state any time we are going out and it is amazing usually. tonight they had a late rush our food came out cold and awful. .. twice. our server was very attentive (tova) but the manager after checking once hung at the bar dropped off a menu to reorder and did not come back to quality check. the second time he picked up our food we said it was again cold and he avoided us – again at the bar. eventually we got our bill which our server had to discount as it was not done. felt very unimportant and spent nearly 3 hours there.
Food and service is fantastic! We understand that it gets busy and everyone is running around doing the best they can. I think people dining think the world revolves around them and forget servers have other tables. If something goes wrong the server fixes it and managers are apologetic. It’s a fun atmosphere that we really enjoy going to and won’t stop!
I have been to state and main many times and every time I’ve been I’ve had excellent service and great food! State and main is a very nice place to eat. I’ve been with young friends and with elderly family members. Although they don’t have booster seats of a physical kids menu, state and main is a lounge (bar atmosphere) that accommodates all kinds of people.
Bad place to eat. From start to finish this was a very bad experience. First they lured us in by telling us they had the food my 82 yr old mother desired, even though it wasn’t on the menu. The waitress talked about a signature Caesar that came with sausage and cheese, so my mother said she would take one, when it showed up about 10 mins later it was a drink that was so spicy she almost choked…she thought she was getting a salad, but didn’t want to look stupid so she had a drink, the waitress was so unclear about what she was talking about, we sent it back and got a beer. Then my mother ordered the dish she had been told they could make, Fettuccine Alfredo with prawns.again another 20 mins and they bring her Fettuccine in a tomato sauce with shrimp. Now keep in mind that my Mother is 82 yrs old and there fore tomato base sauces will cause heartburn, now that its 7pm instead of 5.30 when we thought we would have been eating I got upset. I told the waitress what we had been promised by the manager, she got all flustered and upset and went to get the manager/not the same manager, as there had been a shift change. Anyway i told him the story but he didn’t want to listen, he wanted to be right and defended their mistakes while being very condescending and rude. I told him to get my bill ready for the drinks as we where leaving being very unsatisfied by not getting what we asked for, after we’d been told they could accommodate, and having the waitress being very unclear about what she was talking about. After waiting another 10 minutes I went looking for the manager and the bill only to notice that it was over $18.00 with 2 Caesars a beer and a steak sandwich, that i had not eaten because of the argument i had been having with the manager. When I asked the manager, why so much? he said shaking his head back and forth, well i’m not comping your food or the drink that your mother didn’t drink because she didn’t understand what the waitress was saying. So now I had been fighting with this jack ass for 30 mins. I took my $20 bill and threw it at him and told him to shove it up his ass. I will never go back there! and I will be placing a formal complaint with everyone who owns this place. About the rudeness of the manager and his inability to know his customers. If had they taken into account her age or maybe they could have been a little more clear about what they where offering,or better yet don’t promise things you can’t give. So many things went wrong. All I wanted was to give my Mother what it was she was craving.Even I expected a salad, who puts sausage and cheese in a drink?? I really thought we would get what we had been promised. I guess not!!
