Great dinner experience at the Keg last night!. My husband and I were in Lethbridge for the weekend and decided to splurge on dinner at the Keg. IT WAS A LOVELY EXPERIENCE START TO FINISH! A Saturday night and we didn’t wait, the service was excellent (Mackenzie was attentive but not invasive), our steaks were grilled as ordered and the veggies were perfect. My favorite was the mushrooms, oh yum. We even went for the Billy Miner (?) pie -same thing here would be mud pie, and it was the perfect end. The hostess gave us a bottle of Keg steak sauce because it was our first visit! It won’t be our last.

Enough chances…will not be back.. Have gone to the keg for years. Have noticed a continuing decline in quality of food /service in the recent years, prompting this post. Time after time we return, thinking that maybe it was just a bad nite, or an inexperienced server. From untimely service of appetizers (i.e. the main served immediately after the appies), forgotten salads/bread, to overcooked lobster, and overcooked steak… To people getting served at different times at the same table…to feeling rushed to hurry up and eat so the table can get turned… We have given the keg enough chances to be waht it used to be in lethbridge, that we will not return. There are too many other better options.Tonite we attended with friends – 4 of us in total. Our server was great. But, still the timing problems and quality problems from the kitchen. One steak was brought out plain (ordered oscar). One person had ordered a meal ceasar salad – they had to wait for it – it was not prepared to be served with everyone’s meals. I ordered the chopped vegetable salad with grilled shrimp – the salad tasted great… But there was less than a cup of it. Yes, an $18 meal sized salad, with a cup of minced (not chopped) teeny teeny tiny veggies, and 5 rubbery overcooked shrimp. Wont be back.

Overpriced and the steaks aren’t that great anymore! They make you sit for 15 mins to get a table yet when you look around as you are being seated there are lots of empty tables.

Female customers must sit in a male waiter’s table?. Me and my friend had a very interesting experience last time we went to the Keg. I am a female. A girlfriend of mine came down to Lethbridge to visit. We decided we will have supper in the keg since we both like their steaks. It was in the middle of the week and we were early when we got there, so still plenty of tables. We didn’t like the first table we were brought to and we asked whether we can sit in a booth instead. The hostess hesitated and told us that they have a policy to sit females with male waiter. We insisted we don’t care what gender the waiter/waitress is. Took a little convincing to ensure the hostess that we really don’t care. The waitress we ended up getting was very good and funny. We enjoyed our dinner without a male waiter. Just a recommendation, even if you have this policy for any reason, don’t tell the customer.
