The food at Abyssinia was absolutely delicious. Ive been here a couple of times and loved it. I have tried the meat and veggie mixed platter as well a couple of other meat based dishes on their menu. The service is a little bit slow and sometimes the food takes time to arrive so make sure you dont go when you are too hungry!
Very poor experience. I often frequent many Ethiopian restaurants in both Calgary and Edmonton. This had a very cold and unwelcoming atmosphere – if I were of Ethiopian decent I feel this would be a very different review. Food was sub par at best. I would recommend any other Ethiopian restaurant in Calgary before this one. One positive is their social media is great which is why I came to try. Although it seemed to GREATLY differ from the food served.I would certainly never return or recommend.
Decided to expand on my taste pallet a bit and give Ethiopian food a try. The experience was definitely a different one, and somewhat enjoyable. If you dont mind spicy food, and eating solely with your fingers you can consider giving this place a try. Be warned though that the stuffed jalapeos are insanely spicy! Although the food was delicious, the service was very slow and our server forgot about us a couple of times. Our order also took a while to come. I have no plans of visiting again.
