Easily the best sushi I’ve had in Calgary. Good brown rice options and efficient service as well as very good quality fish. Really the only sushi place in the Beltline with eating at.
Photo of Udon with tempura and veggies is too blurry. I don’t really like udon I was suppose to order ramen but since our tradition won’t let us eat meat (well they have non-meat option thou, but my preference for ramen would be a meat flavored soup) I ordered udon. So I like the Udon but it tastes salty so I asked for chili powder and maybe it helped balance the salty taste (in my verdict). I love the tempura, I always do. But here it wasn’t breading, it was tempura. Its just that the shrimp wasn’t that big. Well just good for its price $10+. The ambiance was pretty good. I love it too. But there were few customers maybe because it was a Good Friday holiday. After our meal we got a guava candy for complimentary and it was good, my very first time for guava flavored candy.
The food was pretty decent, and reasonably priced. We were the only table in the restaurant and the server was so busy with sweeping that I didn’t get a water refill for half an hour. I had to wave her down when I finally saw her. It resulted in my not being able to eat for 5 minutes because I had nothing to wash it down with. The WORST part of the evening is when I went to use to washroom. I was looking through their cabinets to find more paper towel, and I came across their TO-GO CONTAINERS. Yes, they store their take out containers in the washroom. I was appalled. As someone who works in the restaurant industry I’ve never seen anything like that. Disgusting. Will not return.
Been here several times since my work is located nearby. This restaurant is great, service is friendly, the food comes out quickly and the dcor is modern and nice. Whether I go in big groups or just 1-2 other people, we have never been disappointed coming here for lunch. Their lunch specials are the BEST, and offer a good variety of options for reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend this place, and will be returning often!
Great sushi and great service here. This used to be my favourite sushi spot until we discovered Globefish! The restaurant atmosphere is comfortable and clean, and the green tea is great on a cold winter day.
Modern and elegant with comfortable seating and great ambiance. Kanpai offers a variety of choices from sushi, sashimi, don to noodles. The food is delicious and fairly reasonably priced. Best Sushi i’ve had in a long time. This place is a gem. The food is fantastic and the service is wonderful. I would recommend you come here and enjoy.
