Americano is always hot and bold – they use 49th Parallel beans. Cozy atmosphere and calm vibes. Ive never tried the food here but the desserts look delicious.
Kawa is one of my favourite cafs in Calgary. I always receive great customer service and the drinks are delicious. I’m always looking for try a different drink each time!!
Chorizo and goat cheese flat bread was a bit oily. Eggplant sandwich would taste better if it’s warmer, bread under eggplant was not so fresh and too soft. I had coffee here before, coffee was good though, as well as the coconut cake. If I can rate 3.7, I would have.
Very good coffee and friendly staff. Never had the lunch specials but they always look appetizing. The desserts are excellent and quite reasonably priced by Calgary standards.
Nice atmosphere cafe with cool arts and live music!Pros: atmosphere, menuCons: display, bakeryI liked this cafe a lot. They have live music as well, when I visited(Thursday) sadly it wasn’t on. I thought it is nice that they have coffee menu of course, but also alcohol menu and food menu. You can come for drink, snack, or meal! I tried americano and lemon cake. I personally prefer dark roasted French coffee and I find most of the coffee shop in Yyc have blonde to medium roasts. I told the barista my preference and she suggested to go for espresso so that they can pick beans for me. I thought it is a nice service and she was very knowledgeable! The americano was still too light to me but I liked it a lot better that other cafe’s ones. However, the lemon cake was a bit odd to me. The butter cream was almost like butter itself. It was sweet and did have lemon flavor but the very oily taste of butter and the hard texture just like butter in fridge wasn’t very pleasing on cake. I’m sure other pastries are better taste!Overall, I liked the cafe a lot and it’s nice and relaxing place which makes you wanna stay a little longer:) I’ll definitely come back!
In search of a cafe that’s open late on Sundays, I wound up at centrally located Kawa. I ordered a large London Fog and a slice of chocolate cake. The London Fog was made using a generic Earl Grey and tasted pretty much as expected. The chocolate cake was moist but not as rich and chocolatey as I would have liked. I definitely wouldn’t order it again. The decor was nice but nothing outstanding, though the seating was comfortable. Overall, an okay experience, but a place I would only go on a Sunday night when few other options are available.
Such a cute place, perfect for coffee dates!Atmosphere: 10/10 (super chill)Cooked Food: 8/10(most of it)Drinks: 8/10 (varies depending on who the barista is)Pastries: 6/10 (way overpriced, not that good)Service: 9/10 (always has been good for me)Recommendations– I love their capucinnos and their Chorizo Flatbread with goat cheese. Also their eggplant dish is very good. I didn’t like the Korean dish.My rating would be 5/5 but I think Kawa is generally overpriced and sometimes the drinks are not made well (usually only happens in evenings or on weekends).
