Was grocery shopping at the Korean grocery store next door and looked over and found this bakery. I was so excited to see hey had fresh red bean buns which are my favourite. I bought a couple. Will be back again to try other baked goods.
Didn’t try the sweets which looked amazing but managed to have the hot dog bun, hot dog pastry, and the croquette. All were great for $3 or under and greasy! The buns were fresh and light. I’ll go back when in a hurry and need a snack. Reminds me of Chinese bakery goods!
Delicious baked treats. We headed down to this particular area for supper one night and Korean Bakery was still open, so in we went.Since it was after 6 pm on a Friday, selection was limited, however we picked up 4 baked goods, 2 of which were the same.Unfortunately, I can’t remember the specific baked goods we bought, 2 were cream filled, one was almond bun, and the last resembled a cream horn but it had peanut flavoured cream. The 2 cream filled buns were good, but I felt it could have used a tad more cream filling. On a side note, all the buns we bought the underside wasn’t burnt per se, but it did look darker than usual. The almond bun wasn’t bad, however if it weren’t for the sliced almonds on top you wouldn’t have known it was an almond bun as there wasn’t much almond flavouring in the pastry. The last was super heavenly, the cream horn w/ peanut flavoured cream. Unlike western style cream horn, this one did not use flaky pastry, but more of a bun pastry. The cream though was simply divine, very light, nice subtle hint of peanut, I only wish I bought more that day.Overall though, the buns were very good, the dough was light, airy, not overly sweet, very delicious baked treats !
My friend made a visit and brought me back some red bean buns. The bun was light and slightly sweet. The red bean filling was smooth and not overly sweet. Overall, good buns but just a bit greasier than I thought they would be.
Mouth watering, fresh, delicious, heaven. Just go.
Good, but going downhill… just a bit. Ever since this place opened, we’ve been there nearly weekly. Unfortunately, they’ve started using less and less rice flour in their donuts, twists, and red bean buns, which gives them that really chewy quality. Even the owner told us they are using less because the rice flour is too expensive. I haven’t tried any of the cakes, but their corn loaf is YUMYUM (not like cornbread at all though), red bean buns are yummy, mocha loaf is YUMMY, and even the pizzas are oddly delicious. Kinda expensive, but it’s the only one of its kind in calgary and so it’s worth it if you have a korean bun craving. Mmmm…
Red Bean Donut. I like their red bean donut but you have to go early since they sell out everyday. They use/make(?) high quality red bean paste but I think red bean paste might not be too popular with non-Asian.
