Okay, so I feel like a bit of a jerk disagreeing with everyone on here, but I stopped in for lunch today on account of all the excellent reviews. Their meat selection was admittedly impressive, and looked to be very high quality. What I needed at the time was something to take back to the office with me, and so the lovely woman behind the counter suggested a cold cut sandwich. Sure. Whole wheat bread? No. Have I warped back to 1995? No healthier options. Sigh. Okay. White submarine bun it is. I was completely underwhelmed by the quality of the bread, meat and cheese. The best thing about the sandwich was the tangy Dijon mustard and fresh lettuce. Would I ever order another sandwich from here? Absolutely not. I actually feel ill from the residue of preservatives currently lining my gut.But, I will likely give it another try for a warm meal that others are suggesting is an excellent option. Hopefully the second time’s a charm 🙂
Great Lunch, Authentic German Deli!. I work in the area and this is my go-to spot for my favourite German lunch – sausage on a bun and soup. It’s so filling, delicious and just like my Oma would make me when I was growing up. Speaking of Oma, this place is 100% Oma approved. Both her and my mother agreed that they haven’t tasted cold cuts this good outside of Germany in a very long time. All fresh made in the store – none of that Freybe and Schneider’s stuff repackaged. Honest-to-goodness Rouladen and other fresh cuts of meat. Don’t see it? Then just ask! Special orders are no problem. Are you a hunter? They do wild game prep, trimming, smoking and sausages. Oh, and how can I forget all the European imports! From chocolate and cakes, to mustard and herring filets, and even Persil. At prices usually cheaper than the other big import store (Edelweiss). Fantastic Deli. The only thing better than the products here is the service. Absolutely outstanding. Homemade soup and you can have a sandwich made to order. The lady that makes the soup is the best. She is fast, efficient,very customer oriented. Bought some brathwurst sausages to take home. Very flavourful and good deal too. The pepperoni sticks are very lean, a little spicy, and taste pretty good. This place is a gem.
Love It. Terrific lunch: tasty, hot and fast. Always something tempting at the counter to throw on the grill too (yesterday the pork neck steaks looked amazing).
Fresh, clean and friendly. Their is a daily hot lunch item and the perogies are great. Really reasonably priced.
Fresh Sausage, Clean Establishment.. If you are looking for fresh deli meat, sausages, and imported goods, then this is the place to go. Most of the sausage is made in house and very fresh. We come here every time we visit Calgary. They also have tables and chairs so if you just can’t wait to sink your teeth in, you can get sausage on a bun with sauerkraut for a great deal. Prices are reasonable.
