Everything was so tasty and authentic. Will be back for sure this one! Service was friendly & helpful, before we left he said they make a special Columbian seafood soup on Sunday’s
Good food! Fresh food!! Good price!! We had the chicken arepa and some empanadas…delicious!!;)
Reheated old food. I have been to this place many times and today was the second time I get reheated food and it was so gross that I had to throw if out, the plate i ordered had ketchup and it was dry and sticky like it looks when it has been reheated with a microwave, never again
Latin Hidden Treasure. There’s a broad range of Latin foods at Picaditas. From Mexican, Colombian, Cuban and Peruvian dishes, there are certainly some hidden treasures here for very reasonable prices in the $10 range. You can get the tried and true Latin dishes like tacos or enchiladas which feels like Latin comfort food, but talk to the owner and he’ll point you in the right direction for a unique experience. My first visit I got the patacon pisao – an open face sandwich with a plantain for bread. So with the plantain, every bite was sweet mixed with loaded savoury toppings of meat and vegetables. A huge portion that could probably be shared, but with a very unique taste.Picaditas is apparently known for their empanadas and they have a selection of beef, chicken and cheese. They’re style is more of a crisper shell, with the steaming hot filling inside. A great side if you have room on top of your meal. You won’t stumble across this restaurant by chance – it was certainly a satisfying find for me. You need to be looking for it off of Manhattan Road in Calgary’s industrial area. And with it being a small shop, be patient. With the number of takeout orders they receive for the minimal staff, they work hard to serve you.
The best empanadas I’ve ever had.
Back to basics. Had lunch here and we were so impressed with the authentic food. It is exactly what you think of when you hear a hole in the wall restaurant. Paper plates and plastic utensils, all the attention goes into the food. So happy to have found this little gem. Will be back for sure!
Outstanding. The most authentic food I’ve ever had since I left Colombia. Fresh, excellent ingredients and the prices are incredible for the portion sizes that you get. Highly recommended. Owners are great and very friendly.
