Been going here since 2008. I must say the service is still OK but the quality of food has gone way down and the prices have gone up. My vermicelli noodles were dry, the chicken was tough, and the beef wrapped onion was soggy. Will give it another last chance because the times and food used to be so good.

I ordered the pad thai a little while ago as it was one of the recommended dishes. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this myself. It was very plain tasting, every aspect of it. My friend ordered one of the soups which wasn’t very good either. At least the portion sizes were decent for the price.

I remember coming to Bagolac when I was in high school and the food was very good. I went a few weeks ago almost 13 years later and I would have to assume that management has changed. The food didn’t taste very authentic, it was like a westernized version of Vietnamese food. My mother in law got the wor won ton soup which she liked but it was about $12 for a small bowl. I got the sate which I didn’t love, and R’s Pho broth was almost a dark brown colour which we’re not used to. The prices are also priced higher than the average Pho restaurants.

Food is good, but pricey. This restaurant is far from where I live, but I came for the coconut rice, as other restaurants don’t offer that option. Usually has moderate service as I’ve been here several times before over the years, but today’s visit left me very disappointed.I was expecting good service, as we were instantly greeted and seated from the moment we walked in; it was an hour or two after lunch and not busy at all.We (a party of two) were seated on the side where none of the other guests were seated, in a corner hidden beside a wall; difficult for anyone to see us.It had taken our server more than enough time to take our order. We closed our menus to show we were ready about 3 mins after we were seated, but waited what felt like another ten until I decided to stand up and walk over in front of the kitchen to look for our server, or basically any employee, as we haven’t seen anyone on our side of the restaurant to check up on us. I finally got another server’s attention and she took our order. It didn’t take too long for our drinks and food to arrive. We ate for about a half hour or so, but unfortunately, our servers did not check up on us at all; not once, to even refill our waters as one of our glasses were empty about half-way through our meal. (You’d think that they would want to step up their service after having me get up from my seat to look for them..) We waited well after we finished our meals for someone to check up on us, but no one came, so I decided to stand up and look for someone’s attention AGAIN. Note that we are very patient people and give our servers more than enough time to check up (as we both have/had customer service jobs), but even after walking toward the kitchen, obviously looking for our server(s) and looking like I need assistance, I even decided to wait at the entrance to see if someone would see me, but I still did not catch any employee’s attention. I waited for a few minutes of not having anyone come to my aid, and decided to walk back to my seat. Then I finally noticed our first server step out of a booth, on the opposite side of where my party was seated, behind another divider, to finally get up and ask if I needed anything. It honestly shouldn’t have been this difficult to look for assistance.Although annoyed with having to search for our server for help a second time, I politely asked for a box for the rest of my meal and for our bill. He surprisingly did this in a timely matter and brought us a machine to pay. I did not want to tip him much, as I felt that he did not deserve to be tipped at all, but decided to give a small amount, for the cooks at least. We gave him back the machine, took our receipt, and he walks away without a word; no thank you, no goodbye, etc, just throws the receipt on the table without eye contact and walks away. As we were putting our jackets on, I heard our server raise his voice (he sounded ticked off. there was no music or anything playing in the restaurant, so we could definitely hear his tone) at the front desk with the machine and his merchant receipt, speaking in his language for the rest of the servers on the other side of the divider to hear, but was obviously not meant for those who don’t speak his language. Through the unfamiliar dialect, the only bit I understood was the tip percentage we gave him that he said in english, which I found NOT professional at all. We left the restaurant extremely disappointed; unfortunate because we’ve been there before and have never felt such unprofessionalism from the staff. We know this isn’t a four or five-star restaurant, and wasn’t expecting anything exceptional, but the fact that they showed no intention of even trying to give us that minimum *quality* service (and there’s absolutely no excuse as we were 1 of maybe 2 – 3 other parties present), then they should not be complaining if they receive anything less than the average tip. They especially should not be raising their voice so everyone in the quiet restaurant can hear about it, whether or not their guests understand what they’re saying.I won’t be suggesting to go this restaurant anytime soon, and I won’t be recommending this restaurant anymore.

I use to come here every other week with friends 12 years ago. I find this place has changed a bit. They did renovations and the open concept is nice and seems cleaner but I find the food is not as good as back in the day. I ordered spring rolls which was really crispy and had good flavor. The beef sate soup however was medicore, the broth was just not as spicy or flavourful as other vietnamese restaurants. I definitely have had better. My husband got the beef and beef balls Noodle soup substitute it with sate soup as well and his soup tasted and looked much better than mine. It also wasn’t busy at all, only a couple of tables when we were there. Overall it was good but there are other places I would rather go to.

I really enjoy the place- I always love the food here, great atmosphere, quick and welcoming service! I love the spring rolls and the curry too! It’s definitely a go to for Vietnamese in this city.

I’ve had spring rolls in restaurants across Canada and this place does my favourite. Nice and crispy exterior that’s almost buttery without being greasy and the pork filling has this nice peppery flavour with maybe a touch of ginger. It’s tops, folks. Try them with the charbroiled pork on vermicelli for a classic combo. Ph here is good too esp. the beef sate stuff. Also service is fast and friendly .
