Average. Large group went…service was fairly fast…food was average( some dishes were very good, others not so much-those recommending dishes said they had had better on other visits so maybe the size of our groups strained the staff in the kitchen)…cost was decent….I wouldn’t object to returning…

YUM. My favorite Chinese place. I brought my moms boyfriend here one of the first times meeting him and he thanked me for introducing him to such delicious food. GET THE PEACHY SHRIMP! I could eat it forever. The only thing I don’t like is looking at the sad lobster and tilapia in the dirty tanks which makes you question the sanitation of the place but it’s so good I couldn’t give it up.

Love this place it’s like a family. I love the squit from there! I just love shirley as my server she is a sweet heart!

Very good. My family has been coming here for years. Service has always been consistently good and friendly. The food is average, but the prices are fairly good. I’d recommend it for lunch. 4/5.

MMMmmm :). I love this place for their rock salt squid, duck in black bean sauce and chinese broccoli in garlic sauce. All very good and the service is great. After coming here for a couple years now they greet my family with complimentary spring rolls and deep fried tofu. Also Best hot and sour soup; spicy crisp and not jelly.

C&S was awesome but lost its flair…. 2014 Update:I think now that Ah Chin’s gone and The Emperor’s service gone down to the bottom of the toilet bowl, and that I see the two older ladies still working there as always (Part of the Chin Family I believe), I’d say this place has still got it! I enjoyed my visit and the prices were decent. Previous Review:After a change of ownership or something? Or just lost the cook himself? At any rate, for the good old authentic C&S awesomeness, try Chin Kee on Stony Plain or go to Ah Chin’s Kitchen in the south side. The last time I went here for a cheap lunch deal ($6 or so?), the food felt very under-dressed in terms of ingredients but what can you expect for a great deal like this? Fried rice, chow mein, and selected lunch dishes for $6 or so.During normal hours when dishes aren’t on special, well, it was nothing memorable. They either over-salted certain dishes or under-salted the others…. almost like a hit or miss situation. Very inconsistent. Things are just not what they used to be… I stopped going here. In fact, there’s no good Chinese places to hang out anymore – Sam Wok and Tai Pan’s gone bad, Garden Bakery and Double Greetings are in shady areas, and south side Good Buddy just went downhill.Urban China and Emperor is my new thing.

Chinese food done right. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to a restaurant to eat Chinese food I could have delivered at home, but on a lunch date we visited this place. It’s a little tiny place, blink and you would miss the front, and it is has decor like a typical noodle house with the round tables with plastic table tops and a turntable in the middle. In fact the only thing missing was the Chinese Zodiac placemats. However the first impressions hide just what kind of great food you can get here. We ordered a bunch of plates for our party of eight; each plate costs between $8 and $11 and are just about right for sharing between eight people giving each a good sized taste. It’s rare that I start off with what is typically a side dish but the XO Chicken Fried Rice was the best fried rice I have ever tasted. There was no need for any soy sauce whatsoever. Same with the shanghais noodles, they were done perfectly and had hints of BBQ mixed in with the veggies and mushrooms. The beef broccoli surprised me because the broccoli was done so well and so flavorful they stole the show from the beef (which was unfortunately a little chewy and fatty). Same with the lemon chicken; while the sauce was very thick and tasty, the coating on the chicken was rock-hard in some bites. The star of the whole show for me was the shrimp in a peach salad sauce. Huge cleaned shrimp lightly battered and served with big chunks of peaches in a cream sauce that could be its own star in any dish. When I come back it will be for this wonderful creation.Rounding out the plated we tried were green onion cakes and spring rolls that were light and not greasy like what I’m used to with take-out.The service, even though there was only one very hard-working server, was excellent and we even scored some complementary spring rolls before our meal even started. It’s unfortunate that other restaurants don’t catch on to the simple joy of being able to munch on something right away, even something as quick as spring rolls with pickled cabbage and carrots.Overall I enjoyed the really great food and service here and I expect to return next chance I get.
