I have been here a few times and generally I do like how small and quiet it is inside. It’s hidden away in Chinatown so it may be why it doesn’t seem to be busy most of the time. The first time I’ve been here I was not very fond of their drinks because they are liquid-y and have pretty large chunks of ice floating on top. I found that they weren’t blended very well and that kinda put me off. However, my bf loves coming here so I tried this place a few times now and there’s no difference in the quality of their drinks. Still sub-par, still liquid-y, still has large chunks of ice. However, one thing to mention is that their milk tea tastes pretty good so that’s one drink I’d recommend to get here. The thing that redeems this place is their snacks. Their menu is extensive and has lots of food options. I’ve tried their desserts mostly – milky toast was pretty good 4.5/5, strawberry ice cream toast was also good 4/5. Bubble waffle is decent 3/5 compared to other places, I found theirs to be too dry and they lose their texture pretty easily as it cools down. Curry fishball is also decent 3.5/5. Only downside to their food menu is how pricey they are… from a minimum of $6?I would come back again only to try more of their snacks and I like how I could have some private conversations while eating because of how quiet it is. Service is average as expected from a bubble tea cafe.
Okay experience and okay food. This small bubble tea place is tuck away in Chinatown on 98 Street. Their bubble teas are just okay. The drink menu and food menu have a good amount of variety. In terms of drinks, I like my bubble teas more slushy than liquidly. This place made their bubble teas more liquidly and that turned me off. For food, we ordered the Tuna Avocado salad on Toast, Crab Meat Maki, and Garlic Chicken Wings. The Tuna Avocado salad on toast was a nice, light, and unique snack. The Crab Meat Maki was pretty good – light and tasty. The garlic chicken wings were basically roasted chicken wings with garlic and herb seasoning on top. Service was good. Unfortunately, they only accept cash or credit card here. Overall, I wouldn’t come back here again. I prefer Dream Tea House for their bubble tea, drinks, food, and prices.
I like supporting non-mainstream places so… I’m biased.. Dream Tea is definitely better overall but they are big enough already so why support them anymore? This is a nice, cozy place to chill and have a quiet conversation. I’m sure all the drinks are great here with the exception of soggy bubbles. I don’t think there’s enough traffic to make new bubbles all the time, and it’s wrong to throw away old bubbles… so you kinda keep em around but they get soggy. Just get lychee jelly pieces or something. This used to be the center of attention for bubble tea and it competed quite nicely against Dream Tea but now with Dream Tea proliferating so much and with so many new places sprung up, it’s a tough battle for Tea Bar to shine as brightly as before.
Fresh fruit was not fresh and overpriced!. Ordered the watermelon slush and was sorely disappointed. It was overpriced and tasted like artificial watermelon – why advertise it as fresh fruit then? Wouldn’t return – sticking to dream tea.
Great drink and food, especially the HK style egg muffin !!!
