This was literally the worst fried chicken Ive ever had. The whole meal was horrible. The chicken was dry, over cooked and SO greasy! The fries and fritters were greasy and heavy and the gravy bland. Everything had the same greasy blah flavour. Ill never go back.
When it comes to fried chicken places there’s KFC, COTW, Cluck and Cleaver and now Popeye’s. I haven’t tried Cluck and Cleaver, but I know I love Popeye’s. If you’re willing to go north to 17th Ave., can’t beat it. For something closer to home in the south, this will do. Not as much flavour on the chicken and I found the wings and drumsticks rather small compared to Popeye’s. The potato salad is a complete fail. It looks and tastes like partially mashed potatoes with no mayo or any other ingredient that would actually make it a potato salad. The coleslaw is much better and probably the only reasonable choice. It wouldn’t hurt to have more choices for the sides. We got the family deal which comes with enough fries to feed an army, 12 pieces of chicken and 2 medium sides as well as 6 fritters. This isn’t a place I will get a craving for, but it will do in a pinch.
Chicken…pretty good (I still prefer dirty ol’ KFC) Fritters…a must have! Fries…I will pass. The sides aren’t bad but nothing special. COTW is never my first choice but good enough.
The chicken, gravy and fries are, in my opinion, 10/10. The price is incredible (12.50 for a 5 piece) however I’m willing to pay more if I got some happiness out of the people at the till. Been here 3 times, all 3 the food was incredible; but feel like the most miserable people in Calgary work the front till here. Still, the unhappy grunts from the staff are worth the deliciousness you’re about to receive.
When I get fried chicken I have to embarrassing admit I love KFC. However , the chicken here is great. Fried perfectly. The fritters are great too.
It’s fried chicken, it fit the part. Nothing to write home about, but not complaints on the chicken side either. We got a side of shrimp, I’ll pass on that in the future.
Family Meal Deal. We stopped on Sunday after church and picked up the family meal deal for lunch. The service was excellent, as was the food. For only 29.00 the family enjoyed a great lunch and we even have enough left for lunch again tomorrow. Was fantastic. oureatinghabits.com
