First ever visit to any Fritou location. They were not busy but I was impressed the staff were willing to talk me through what they had and made suggestions without being pushy. Tried the poutine with shredded chicken. It had a strong and salty gravy, excellent fries. The cheese was a miss because it was only in about 1/3 of the bites and was pretty bland even for mozzarella but 3 out of 4 quality components is a win. I also tried a piece of regular fried chicken. It had a good crunch and really good skin. The dipping sauce has some similarities to Swiss Chalet but with a sweet note and a far more interesting flavour. Thumbs up, will be back.
Fritou was recommended by a neighbour and it was a great call. I might hold out for Popeye’s but so far this is the next best tasting chicken available from a chain. The chicken portions were large and seasoned nicely. What I really liked was that the chicken wasn’t greasy at all. There are a limited number of sides (primarily coleslaw) but the menu also includes chicken burgers, strips, and nuggets as well as poutine and General Tao’s chicken. It’s a different take on southern fried chicken but refreshingly good.
