I haven’t been to a Swiss Chalet in 2 decades or possibly 3. Looks like nothing much has changed. The restaurant looked clean with your typical booth and table sitting. Nothing to get excited about or to gripe about. The service seemed somewhat disorganized when it came to greeting. My server performed acceptably but everything seemed a bit lackadaisical and indifferent though. I had a dark meat bbq chicken plate and nothing else. That came with a salad or something else as a side. I chose the salad which was fresh and had a few different types of veggies in the mix. It wasn’t exotic, but the raspberry vinaigrette dressing was nice. They didn’t have thousand islands dressing though. The chicken was of average size. Liked the fries. The side dish of sauce, as I remembered it from long ago, still tastes like some strange mix of dish soap and brown food colouring. That may be a personal preference thing, but I still don’t understand how anyone can enjoy the stuff. luckily, the bbq chicken tasted okay. $13.64 for my no drink meal. Maybe I’ll be back in less than a few decades next time, but probably not if there is anywhere else to try.
An overall rating would be NEGATIVE. The place is not so clean with cracked upholstery that sinks in the normal sitting spot. We waited 20 mins for food that we were told was due to a large take out order, the manager said thus was a lie and it was due to the pot pie being specially cooked. Another waitress came and said he lied it was due to a large take away order. My chicken Parma was overdone and the pasta thrown in the plate, thumb marks were in the grease on the plate. The manager re-plated the same food. The chicken was overlooked and dry, the crust was burnt and the pasta tasted of tomato sauce. We were given a $3 discount off our bill to add insult to our night out. This has been given to charity. I know we are handicapped seniors and have limited funds but $3….. There is not a chance we will return.
