Nothing Special. My husband and I were at Argo’s today after a day of shopping in Medicine Hat, and we were both pretty underwhelmed. While the service was excellent, that was about the only thing that left a positive impression on us. The decor and lighting of the restaurant could certainly use some updating; while that’s not a huge deal, it feels very outdated. Then, there’s the food. I ordered the pepper chicken, and my husband ordered the chicken caesar wrap. My meal started with a caesar salad, which was drenched in dressing and had a weird oniony taste to it, and I could barely eat half of it. The food itself left much to be desired. My husband’s wrap was just fine, but the fries that came along with the meal were kind of cold, and also had no salt or seasoning to them. Speaking of no seasoning, my chicken was incredibly bland. It came in a sauce that was nice, but the chicken itself had no seasoning and as a result, it tasted a bit like throwing an old piece of leather in a pile of sauce. Additionally, the sauce had grape tomatoes that had not been cut before being put in the sauce to cook, which meant that each tomato was a little pocket of searing hot death. I also have to say, I dislike restaurants that get the waitresses to dress the baked potatoes table side. Either let me do it myself or have it come already dressed; I hate having to ask for more sour cream/bacon/onions, only for the waitress to pile on way too much. We weren’t too interested in sticking around for dessert. Overall, it’s not a terrible restaurant, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
