I heard mixed reviews but wanted to give it a try. I was definitely disappointed. I was told there are new owners because the food has really gone downhill the past couple years. My burger was dry and it had toppings I’d requested be left off. Upcharging $4.50 to make fries poutine is absolutely ridiculous, especially once it comes and there’s barely any gravy or cheese. Price at this place reflects a nicer place with better food like Local or Moxies, definitely not a run-down diner with mediocre food. Then I got a cinnamon bun for dessert (at $4.50 as well…$$$) and it was dry and stale. Don’t think I’ll be back; for $23 I can get a MUCH better lunch
Although I grew up in Medicine Hat, I’d never been here until now – which is strange, since it’s the oldest continually operating restaurant in town. What a gem. This is a genuine local place, and you get food and service to match. Unlike chains, this is the kind of place where the people who run it love being there – and that really comes through. It’s not fancy – it’s solid, hearty and fun – and the price is right! $8.50 for an early-bird special (7-10 AM) which I couldn’t get through, it was so much. Highly highly recommended!

They make a delicious taco salad servedby a waitress with a dry sense of humor! She is hilarious! Fridays are Flapper Pie days! Love this place!
