Took the kids to Skinnys for some supper. It was late and they had sold out on a few items. I kinda expected that as it was late in the day. The pulled pork was great, had a nice mild taste. Really wanted to try some brisket but there it was sold out. The kids are picky and they accommodated them by making some kid friendly meals. Give Skinnys a couple more years to fine tune things…its great already but just like wine they will get some much better with age.
The first thing you notice about Skinny’s is the aroma of the smoker, then you open the front door and walk into the establishment. The smell and atmosphere are amazing a true southern smokehouse feel. The menu is on chalkboards above the counter from which you can clearly see into the kitchen and watch the friendly staff make your meal. After ordering fast food style at the counter you’re more than welcome to sit at on of 3 huge tables that are meant to be shared between smaller groups of customers. They put together one of the most savoury meals you will eat in the city with fall apart in your fingers smoked meat with in house made BBQ sauce and sides. The buns they serve their sandwiches on are a local bakery special and can still barely hold the 1 lb of meat they jam on it. To die for, if you love your mouth eat at Skinny’s. Your pants may hate you after eating there way too often.
