Wish I could give this restaurant 10 stars. SOLELY based on their food. Their service leaves a little to be desired but the food outweighs any disappointment in that area by a landslide. Probably the best poutine I’ve ever eaten (and I’m from the east coast) I cannot wait to go back and continue to try the rest of their menu items. Very nice restaurant as well. Love the feel it has, very chic.
Before I say anything about the food and service, I have to say that Canada Health and Services, need to do a decibel l level check on the place. As a patron, who will only be in the restaurant for 1 1/2 hours tops, I’m not concerned about my hearing. However the staff that work at State and Main, should have to wear ear protection.I’m not lover of open plan, industrial designed restaurants, where the ceiling is open and the pluming in the roof exposed. All this means is when I’m trying to hold a conversation with someone I’m with, I have to raise my voice to be heard above the noise, of the people in the place. It’s not the background music or TV volume that the problem, it’s the echoing of conversations from throughout the restaurant. The management need to hang sound deadening baffles or flags to reduce the noise. I will not be back, until something is done.The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. Food quality and presentation are on par for a restaurant of this style. Just bring your ear plugs…
Nice to see in Crescent Heights! We have been here 4-5 times, menu is similar to Original Joe’s (sister companies). The last two visits have been painfully slow. During off peak hours one expects better service. Sitting there for 45 minutes and only being asked if I want a coffee refill AFTER paying my tab is unacceptable.Good quality food, friendly (yet slow at times) staff, definitely will give a third visit and will adjust my rating at that time.Update: visited again January 2, 2017. Good food, horribly slow service, ignored our table. The only reason we go is because it’s close. Thank goodness the Keg is open now.
We were looking for a place to go eat before a show at the Canalta Centre and decided to try this new place out. I was pleasantly surprised.Food: Decent selection of burgers, steak, sandwiches, fish and chips etc. I had a bison burger and it was perfectly cooked. Also tried a wine recommend by the waitress and I was happy with it. Everybody in the group agreed it was very good. As for the prices well I didn’t pay so I didn’t really pay attention, but it wasn’t to bad.Service: Perfect. Plenty of drinks, hot food. A bit off bit it was naturally busy do to an event and it was actually the first day. All in all better than most places. One guy brought drinks out and was checking on all the tables, after a brief talk I learned he was the owner. Atmosphere: A nice patio. The interior was a bit dark. A few TV’s with NHL and MLB. I’m pretty sure they have a bar/lounge. A place for a good meal, or just a few drinks watching the game. I look forward to coming back here, and urge you to try it. You won’t be let down.
