It was a busy weekend with the 104 street market, 124 street, and Strathcona market. I hadnt been here or heard of the restaurant but wanted to give it a go. The service was great as was the ambiance. The food did take a long time (about 45 min) but they did warn us. It was worth the wait. Both the quantity and quality was there. We had the bangers and mash and it was some of the best quality food Ive had in Edmonton in a while. The crepe with avocado, tomato, sour cream, black bean mash, egg and lettuce was also impressive! Both dishes under $20 was of excellent value. They also accommodated our children nicely and were welcoming.
First off the bat-,service from start to finish was commendable, their consistency and how accommodating they were really left an impression; we totally felt taken care of. Coming for brunch on a Sunday, youre guaranteed to be anticipating a wait time, especially on Whyte. Not only did he apologize for the wait wed have to go through, he made sure to point out that after we got seated and placed our orders, with the kitchen already tiny and swamped their would be another wait for the food to actually arrive. The heads up was greatly appreciated and for any hangry brunchers, its a solid tip rather than going in blindly and complaining about the wait later on. Savoury Belgian Waffle- ($19) – Most memorable part of this dish was the waffle. Thick and fluffy that had the subtle sweet flavor you yearn for. Aside from that, the dish all together was nothing special. Poached eggs were too overdone and would have liked a little more flavor from the hollandaise sauce. Bangers n’Mash – ($19) – Cranberry maple sausages served with mashed potatoes and 2 fried eggs. The jam served on the side and what we assumed to be an accompaniment for the sausages went really well together. Simple classic hearty breakfast with great execution with flavors. Summing up this brunch with mixed feelings. Service was awesome, but our dishes were underwhelming. Wouldnt be making this my new brunch spot at all, seems to be more hyped than anything else.
