Unfortunately Fresh has changed for the worse recently. I have been going to Fresh Kitchen since it opened, but only go for coffee now. The food was once creative and delicious, but recently the hot food choices are repetitive and in some cases almost unpalatable.
Food packed with flavour. Visited Fresh Kitchen today, hidden away in Shaw’s NE campus. As soon as you walk in, you see that it is a trendy little place with about 25 seats. Windows surround the seating area so it is lovely and bright, along with a double-sided fireplace for coziness.I ordered the Salmon Creole Soup, plucked a tub of tomato bocconcini salad from the refrigerated section, and selected a Mash grapefruit citrus carbonated water. Each item was roughly $3. The cup of soup was about 8 ounces (2/3 of a tall at Starbucks). I would have called it stew, rather than soup, because it was generous with the veggies and I found big chunks of salmon in my cup. It was just the perfect combination of spice and heat, with lots of flavour. The tomato bocconcini salad was grape tomatoes and small fresh cheese dressed with a savoury combination of fresh basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. It was delicious and I enjoyed my lunch very much.Fresh Kitchen has quite a number of pre-made sandwiches and a few salads. In addition, it offers three hot entrees each day. Each of the refrigerated items was marked with the date it was made and the date it expires, so if you are worried about mold (as other reviewers commented) I would check the expiry date and examine the sandwich before purchasing.
