It's always bittersweet coming here. The only time that it is worth it to go is during shrimpfest. Many types of shrimp for about 20 bucks. Good deal,…

It is Red Lobster. It is what you’d expect from a chain restaurant: Long waits for seats, harried or uncaring (and/or overworked) servers, food that is at best pedestrian and uncaringly made, and about the highest prices they can afford to get out of you. We decided to go here because we were both desiring shellfish, and could not think of a single restaurant in Edmonton which was a ‘safer’ bet for seafood. There are other places in the city which have seafood options, but few (and none that immediately sprung to mind) that specialized in it. So, here we went. We both ordered from the Lobsterfest menu, me ordering basic shrimp and lobster, wife ordering a baked lobster pasta with white wine sauce. Mine was fine (not great, but fine), but hers was the epitome of uncaringly and almost ineptly designed. Our server started off fine, but then was not there for huge stretches of time and took over 15 minutes to even bother to stop by and settle the bill (while people were lined up out the door), and even then only because I literally was standing by the table with my coat on. I get it, Red Lobster is an international chain restaurant, and they are rarely a mark of quality (consistency, maybe, but not quality), but and was very disappointing. For the $80+ that we spent here, we have had MUCH better menus at places like Sofra or Nongbu or Beer Revolution or Kyoto or Yianni’s or any of a dozen other better and much closer places. Yes Red Lobster continues to cook shellfish in an acceptable (and even in the case of my shrimp, quite decent) way, but now that we have reminded ourselves about the general quality of the restaurant, I think we have stated our desires for a few years to come.
Always great food and wonderful service. Never disappointed. Kudos to their excellent manager who is very gracious and friendly. I truly recommend eating here.
I find it silly with how much I dine out; tonight was my first visit to Red Lobster. I mean sure, it’s a chain – but with how close it isand the rave over their biscuits, how could I have lived through life only visiting the chains residing inside West Edmonton Mall.Daddy’s birthday dinner choice was to revisit this location considering how good the food was the last time he came by. We arrived around 7pm, a lot of parking since they share the lot with Olive Garden. We arrived during prime dinner time with no reservations,We were expecting to have to wait long. Thankfully we were told it would only be 10-15 minutes which actually only turned out to be a 3 minute wait?(no complaints)The space is actually a lot bigger than how it looks outside. Not cramped and plenty of seating. A giant tank of live lobsters right as you start walking to the tables – you know, just in case you forget you were at red lobster. Service during the night was decent. She was pretty confused with the wine menu herself and once asked about specials or her recommendations – nothing. Alright. Now to the food, let’s start with the AWESOME CHEDDAR BAY BISCUITS – oh my … came to the table hot and fresh and literally perfect. Maybe I was slightly starvingwhen I devoured two of them but they were so crumbly- moist inside with a crunchy bite on the outside. We ended up sharing the Garlic Grilled Sea Scallops which came with Wild Rice Pilaf ($8.29) – the tables favorite. The scallop was cooked perfectly, while the rice tasted.. healthy? With an earthy after taste with a bite of bits of mushroom and spices- it was a good share. My sister had the Fish and Chips (14.99) pretty medicore – fish could have been crispier, it was soggy on the bottom with a lot of oil rendering to the bottom. Tartar sauce was yummy though!!Dad, Mom and me all had the New york strip and Rock Lobster Tail (39.99) which came with mash potatos and we all opted for fries a well. First of all – we all asked for medium rare-once we all actually got the steak , one plate had a medium while the other two were bsdically well done. Unfortunatley I got the well done plate, and only had 2 bites before my throat dried out. The highlight to the plates were the lobster and the mash – seasoned with each bite and the butter gave it a little more of a decadent bite. The mash was sooooo creamy! With the highs and lows through out our dinner today, I think red lobster is going to be one of the places I wouldnt mind frequent visits with the family. You are getting a bang for your buckand with the extensive menu- everyone would be able guranteed to find a favorite.
Horrible horrible food. Lobster bisque was inedible tasted like raw wine. Grilled shrimp on salad was flavorless – waitress stated it’s meant to be like that. Will never go back.
I’ve contemplated for the longest time to go to Red Lobster and overall it wasn’t too bad. It is a chain after all and there are some hits and misses. But what do you expect? The restaurant is massive, I went on Victoria Day which was a Monday at dinner time and it was pretty packed. Got one of those electronic buzzer things that lets you know you’re table is ready. Wait time was about 15mins, not bad at all. Service here is a tad slow, given that it was pretty busy. But our server Mary was very nice and welcoming. My girlfriend and I quickly glanced through the menu and knew exactly what we wanted. We got their Spicy Chili Shrimp to start. It was pretty tasty but not enough heat for me personally. I wasn’t fond of the presentation however. A messy pile of lettuce and our shrimp thrown on top… You also get a small basket of their famous biscuits which are quite delicious with some addition of butter. And we got a Caesar and Garden salad with the choice of our mains. My girlfriend got their Ultimate Feast which comes with a Lobster tail, Snow Crab Legs, Garlic Shrimp and some deep fried shrimp. I got their Admirals Feast which is deep fried heaven. You get a mixture of bay scallops, shrimp, clams and a whole fish filet. I also got their Lobster Mash as a side. Best $4 charge I ever spent. It was divine, good amount of Lobster in it as well. Overall everything was pretty tasty, nothing overcooked or over greasy. Seasoned decently well and it sure left us full. We had just enough room for dessert. Their key lime pie is pretty dense, not the greatest but not the worst. Overall you get your money’s worth here with all that seafood…
Went here for a family meal while visiting Edmonton. Not impressed at all! While browsing the menu I realized my menu was missing pages. Ordered a bottle of red wine that ended up costing twice as advertised in the menu, but didn’t catch the error until I got home. Lobster was over cooked and very tough and chewy considering it is Lobster Fest time. Just look at the colour of it in my picture..yuck! Crab was just ok, all and all it was disappointing…should have just went to The Keg!
We ordered grilled lobster, shrimp and salmon. It’s a sea food-lover’s paradise! The waitress was friendly and fast. The service was impeccable! We will always come!
