I think it depends what you get but our chicken chow mein would have been good if the chicken hadn’t tasted like a metal basked. The pineapple chicken balls were mostly just batter and came with hardly any pineapple. The gingerbeef on the other hand was incredible. The waitress was forgetful and slow. One good plate isn’t enough to make up for everything else unforunatly and I will not be returning nor would I reconvened it.

I would not recommend this place only if you want tasteless food. I also found it surprising that upon picking up food they demanded tips when paying for my take out.
…..**** we had the beef brisket gai lan chow mein and beef brisket chow mein in soup format… it was kust ok… nothing to rave about like we did the first time. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT…. #94 pan fry rice noodles in amoy style…. had ketchup as a sauce. If an establishment has in big letters authentic chinese cuisine…..you dont expect ketchup in anything. TWO THUMBS DOWN Blue Orchid…******.food has gone down hill a bit…. maybe change in chefs???……..Downtown edmonton is so disjointed. It’s hard to find good chinese resturants. Mostly after the closure of Mirama most people go to dynasty Marco Polo if they’re dt. We drove throughout a block of Asian eateries b4 we headed back to blue orchid. We’ve had the beef brisket chow mein.. beef brisket rice noodles and beef brisket lor bak.. we like the beef brisket there can you tell? We did also peaches and cream shrimp which were light crispy and very tasty under the sweet mayo sauce. .. not sure but I think they lightly garnished it with candy confetti. I saw little micro bits of green purple which I recognize as sprinkles that my kid loves so much. That part I could do without. I too hate the parking there and the 2 freezers behind our table kind of kill the ambiance. But it’s the food that is the most important part in Chinese resturants anyway.
First time being at this restaurant, have to say this is really Chinese. Food was very tasty, fresh and hot. They even have a small flame under the dish. Service was really good compare to most other Chinese restaurant. This is an excellent addition to downtown area. They did not get a 5 star is because the words in the menu are so small that you can hardly read, and there parking sucks
