The food was too greasy. The fish was ok, but what looked like a generous portion turned out to be very thin. I paid for a premium fish, but it was rather mediocre.
I can’t say I love the decor, but the fish, chips, and fried oysters are tasty. The batter is not too thick, and everything is super crispy as it should be. I can’t eat this every week, but I would definitely visit again.
I go here every once in a while when I want to get my fish and chips fix. I always order the Turbot and chips (I think Brits is the only place in Edmonton I know of that serves Turbot). Definitely better quality and price point than some of the other places in the area. The service is basic but friendly, much like the interior; order at the counter, someone brings you your order after a few minutes. Fish and fries are always hot and fresh and all the condiments you need are on the tables, with as much tartar sauce as you want rather than getting some dinky dipping bowl you have to pay extra for. Honestly its just as good as any I’ve had in Britain, its not fancy, but it definitely fulfills my cravings when I get them and I always leave full and happy.
Service: You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself and they bring the food to you. The staff was friendly.Appearance: A good make over is needed. The tables were sticky, but otherwise the place was acceptable.Food: You order the type of fish you want, you can order basa, cod, halibut, haddock, sole and turbot and each is a different price.Cod and halibut were the two we ordered. This fish was good and deep fried nicely. The coating was flaky and the fish was fresh and light, a job well done.Fries: These are basic, average fries.Mushy peas: acceptable, but lacked flavorCondiments: Each table has white vinegar, malted vinegar, ketchup and tartar sauce.Go again: yes
Very greasy… Won’t go back. The batter has changed. Not impressed……………. . B.
The fish and chips here were excellent, they serve multiple different kinds of fish, and appetizers such as scallops. We tried the tulbot fish and chips family set. The fish was very fresh, u could tell they use quality stuff. The fries and other sides were just average tho, or below average. Id just come here for the fish. Its pricey but worth a try.
I like everything about this place, from the food to the staff to the tacky London tourist decor. You also get a choice of fish to go with your chips.
