Oh boy, it took me forever to finally eat here. Every previous attempt they ran out of soup. So if youre coming here, get here early! I came around 12ish in a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. Luckily I only had to wait 5 mins for a table. The decor is nice and homey. I like the structure of the restaurant/menu. They focus on one thing and thats Ramen (chicken or pork). They do have rice bowls but you can cut the appetizers right out, who needs that when you got a big bowl of ramen? The portion sizes here are spot on. Just enough to take you close to the edge of pant bursting fullness. My girlfriend got their Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen, which is the OG for Ramen. Rich, thick and fatty pork broth. Just the right amount of saltiness and the broth was super smooth. I got their Spicy Goma Goma Ramen. Flavour wise it tasted close to my girlfriends Tonkotsu broth but with extra spice and miso added in. Now for me personally I expected heat but it wasnt that spicy. A solid 1/5 for spice. The noodles here are excellent. Firm and chewy with great texture. I liked the noodles so much I had to get a refill of noodles. The fried lotus chip as a garnish is a nice touch. Their egg would be slightly better if the yolk was a bit runnier and if they gave me the other half as well. Minced pork in Ramen is a hit or miss. You either eat it all at the beginning or it just gets lost throughout the broth. I have my doubts whenever I try a new Ramen restaurant in YEG. But Tokiwa Ramen gets a solid thumbs up from me. Ill be back for sure.
