Made a last minute reservation for Thanksgiving dinner feast. Table was all set up on my arrival and I was promptly seated. Ambiance felt nice, with some festive decorating and a fairly full house that wasn’t squeezed in to the space. My server, Sanjay, was attentive, courteous and polite. The food was pretty good, and at a good price point. I will revisit this restaurant again, and recommend it to other.

Feb. 7, 2016. Went here for the brunch buffet today & we got there as they were opening. We didn’t make a reservation, but they seated us after the people who have made reservations. We waited about 5 minutes before we were told that all the buffet items were out and ready for customers to go help themselves. Hot items were all hot and tasted pretty good and they have lots of varieties for you to choose from including seafood. The salad bar and the dessert section looked impressive as well. There was too many items to choose from and I got full after 2 plates. There were items I wanted to try but didn’t as I wanted to leave room for desserts. I thought all the food tasted really good and everything was filled and restocked pretty quickly. For $25 per person, it is totally worth it. I would definitely come back for the brunch buffet.

Don’t know why this place has a bad rep. Interior isn’t far off a lot of steak houses but that’s not why we came.Brunch as excellent. Service was good and prices? Let’s just say the food was excellent, and I doubt you could get cheaper breakfast across the street at the place across the street with a big M on the front of it.Brunch menu is short but it’s all cheap, I mean steak and eggs for under 12 bucks? It’s a no brainer to me!

Wine was good. We decided to host a family event at the Sawmill Capilano . I used to work for the keg and heard great things about the sawmill so for a family event we decided to dine at the Capilano location. Our server was great. We were deciding on appetizers and my sister and I thought their flat bread would be nice to share. Our server informed us that the flatbed was not good for sharing as it does not come cut .. and no the kitchen will not cut it For guests. We got it anyways along with calamari. Calamari was great cooked perfectly ! To bad it was cold by the time i was finished cutting all the flatbread .. The server did warn us but for a table of 20 ppl you would think they could pull out a knife and cut the bread ! I have managed a few restaurants and even in pubs we would accommodate .. why not in a steakhouse ? Our server was very attentive and even pour wine for us which was a nice change Even tho we were fine doing it ourselves ! When our meals came runners brought it to our tbl so many steak orders were the wrong temp and lobster was the worst I had even had.working in many different fine dinning restaurants I have never tasted lobster like that .. it was awful .Everyone that had ribs really enjoyed their meals and praised the sawmill .many of us who had steak felt otherwise. Being someone who loves restaurants and knows how they operate I will probably go back to give it another shot because I know every place has an off night and a tbl of 20 is hard to cook for .. but I know many family members won’t come back and that’s unfortunate because we have all been to the keg soo many times !

Ok Buffet Trashy Clientele. Decided to take my friend’s elderly mom here on Sunday as there are a dearth of places in Etown with a decent salad bar, a requirement for Maria. I Googled and found out about this Sawmill location so we decided to go for it. When we walked in it was the usual Sawmill vibe, decent-looking salad bar, average crowd, a very blue collar demographic. We sat in the upper tier at the far end. Right below us was a large table that served as it’s own nook, contained within 3 walls. A large group of late twenty something’s were already seated, they all had a douchebag/Ed Hardy type of look, ball caps, tattoos galore. Well, within minutes of sitting we found out what the next hour would be like. Ended up that this was a group of loud, boorish, foul-mouthed, wannabe-Jersey Shore idiots fresh from their workout at the nearby Popeye’s gym. No regard for anybody in the vicinity, acted as if they were at their own house party: F-bombs being dropped indiscriminately and very loudly, sex act topics were not taboo, the word beeyatch being tossed around as per the stereotypical ghetto slang that a certain breed deems normal today. And extremely loud group laughing (there were eight or so of them laughing at once), shaking the walls and almost deafening due to the sound deflecting off one of the walls up to our table. A very shameful group, beyond rude and low class. We could have got up to say something, or even mentioned it to the waitstaff (who were excellent btw) but the gangster-look of this trashy gang encouraged us bite our tongue. It’s unfortunate that there seems to be such a large number of trashy, foul-mouthed narcissists in this city today who have no clue on how to behave in public, especially when surrounded by families and elderly people. Oh yeah, the food: it was decent, nothing spectacular but served it’s purpose.

Sawmill at Capilano. We went there for dinner on Monday. When we arrived the hostess seated us as usual. After being seated we were there for about 15 minutes before someone approached us with water and another 15 minutes before the waitress came to take our orders for drinks and appetizers. The turn around times for the appatizers wasn’t bad it came out about 25 minutes after we ordered. However, the bread and butter that they were suppose to bring did not come until after the appatizers came, which was whatever. We didn’t care about that. The meal that we ordered was not done properly. Which took them a very long time to prepare.A couple of us ordered medium rear( no trace of pink at all). / got well done. One order was for rear / got medium well, brought it to the waitress attention. She just argued saying that’s what we order. One of the order was for baked potatoe and mashed was brought out. At least she took the responsibility for that mistake. Our water glasses were always empty.Used to love the Sawmill restaurant not so much any more. Considering the amount of money that we spent there every time we go . Won’t be going back anytime soon.
