The food is good but only if you get a discount, which I did because it was around grand opening time and there was a 15 – 20% deal if you eat in the afternoon. Otherwise, I feel like the food is OK (like Sumo Sumo in Sherwood Park) but the prices can feel a bit on the heftier side. Now, this is better than your typical Kyoto quality but I’m not sure if the price point is justified. It’s nothing really special. If you want safe Japanese food and you live in the area then I can see the appeal. Driving too far out of your way to try a new Japanese food restaurant may not be a good idea – unless you are really sick of everything else or you are really curious. No offense, it’s decent, but just nothing really stood out. Maybe that super expensive lobster roll… still. The Japanese food scene is saturated and I can’t say much about this one. Above average yet still mundane.
Spot Prawn Deep Fried Head, Chop Chop Cone, Bento Box, Toro, Ikura and TempuraKept reading and hearing about how good this place was since it opened so decided to bring some ppl here for lunch. For the distance I had to drive, this was a mistake. Food here was pricey. Wasnt even so good as others have claimed. Chop Chop cone was pretty meh, rice filled. Toro was pretty disappointing, no trace of fat/flavor in any piece. Ikura had some good sweetness though and it was a nice touch for them to deep fry the spot prawn head to eat. Most places dont do that. Tempura was average for Edmonton standards and while I didnt have the bento, friends said it wasnt great for the price at all.Located in Northeast Edmonton, this is passable for a sushi restaurant if you live nearby. The service was ok but the interior was pretty nice, got a good new shiny feel. However, if you plan to come out here because you heard it was great, dont. Save Gas. Protect the Earth. Global warming IS real.Sal says: Just Skip It (2.5/5)@ncd.23 says: The bento was overpriced and a smaller portion. It’s the only lunch bento box I have seen that does not come with rice. I was still hungry after I ate.@Mikerousseau888 says: Sashimi quality was good, the rest of the bento was ok but it was overpriced
After giving me the wrong take out order , I go back asked for a fresh order of salmon sashimi, I get home to see half of my salmon different color! The one side was at room temp and the other side was chilled. Not impressed using OLD food!
All I can say is wow. The only bad thing about this place for us was location! The staff were amazing and friendly and attentive! This was on a Friday night. The beef tataki was amazing and fresh. The shrimp tempura was lacking flavor but it was fresh. All the sashimi was fresh and the cuts were on point! If you can spoil yourself like we did get the lobster roll! It was so fresh and flavorful I was very impressed. Price is in the right point for what you are eating!!! This is my new go to sushi eating place!!!
First thing first, who put a mandatory 18% tip for takeout? You don’t give me water or tea, you don’t clean the table, you don’t have to run back and forth to give me food, so what right do you have to take 18% tip? The food is over priced, the ramen look like instant noodle, it’s curly not straight noodle, the sushi is the same quality as ones from grocery store, I’ll never come here again and I hope other customers see this and don’t bother coming here.
In my neck of the woods, there’s not many options in the immediate area for dining out. It’s mostly chains or fast food. So imagine my surprise when I noticed a Japanese restaurant (that’s not an Edo or a Tokyo Express) being built in the area! Nagoya Japanese Cuisine is located in north Hollick Kenyon, in the same plaza as the Save-on-Foods. They’ve been soft open for a month, and held their grand opening just last week (Aug 28). Prior to their grand opening, they had an ongoing promotion for 10% off your order, whether dine-in or take-out. A good incentive for people to come in and try them out while they establish their presence in the neighborhood.
We finally had a chance to try out this new place before it was grand open . I love my sashimi, generous portion and fresh . chop chop roll and avocado roll taste really good too . Tablet to order is lame, because at the end you still have to get your server to confirm the order . I would just do the transitional ordering way. Prices for noodle soup are $2-3 higher than other ramen places. overall good and worth to try it out .
